I'm ashamed to say I didn't much cared how it was going to end. It was dark, forceful and way too complicated for my tastes. I'm thinking it may be enjoyable for some people because I did enjoy some parts of it like the romance for example. It was complex but which real relationship isn't? The main plot however felt rushed and had too much information for just one novel. The author tried to balance so many aspects at the same time and I gotta say for me some of them were just taking space for those parts that actually were important for the development of the plot. I kind of wanted this novel to be the end of the story because I honestly don't have any kind of interest in reading the next book if it's like this one. My curiosity isn't enough to force me to read more.

I have so many problems with this book I don't even know where to begin. Honestly. The idea of the main plot is not bad, it's creative and interesting. The execution, however, leaves much to be desired. The writing is stilted and forced. The characters are very poorly written and sometimes make no sense whatsoever. More importantly, even after finishing this book I have no idea what the main character is and why people wanted to kill her. I'm also imagining the author thought having two big alpha men after a woman is supposed to be sexy as hell and whatnot and usually I would have agreed but with such a poor formed characters I really can't see it. They were overbearing, forceful and even ridiculous. Tabitha was also a huge disappointment because she only pretended to rebel against their wishes...soon as they caught her she just swooned for them. It was totally predictable. Not to mention the stuff she let them get away with. I'm thinking domestic abuse. Sorry but that's what ultimately their romance screams to me. The only saving point was the god, Drakos. He seemed like the most sane of the bunch actually. Tabitha's brother is kind of creepy. That guy is so obviously hiding something and nobody cares. I just don't know if it was worth my time...

It wasn't exactly what I had in mind, I mean, I think I expected a little more. The plot was interesting and creative. It surely had everything to be a success...The writing was different from my usual but I actually liked it. The one disappointment for me was the end. It felt somewhat incomplete and rushed. Just like John's death. It took less than a paragraph to kill him. I wanted more. I wanted him to suffer a little I guess and I wanted to know a little more about how things were going to be for Gwen and Arka. Basically it felt flat. A little more pages to complete the feel of the book would have been welcome.

Have I mentioned Eve Langlais is one of my favourite authors? She is and it's noticeable why when reading this book: it's funny, engaging, sweet and interesting. It is also very well written, new and creative. The final touch about dragons was just the cherry on top of the cake. The characters were truly captivating and I couldn't help wishing a happy ending so it was really wonderful seeing them pushing over the obstacles.

Kind of an abrupt and unsatisfying end but pleasurable enough. Yes, pun intended. Quick and dirty that's my general idea of this book. The story was short, fast-paced and unusually funny considering there were vampires involved. Somehow they always end up being grumpy but Zane and Felicity were surprisingly normal. Funny. Smart. Gentle. And Ella was simply sweet yet ferocious. Such strength and not many weaknesses considering she spent most of her life locked up in a mental institution. I expected much craziness even if she wasn't really crazy when she was committed.

This book ended up being even more fascinating than the first Realm book. I particularly liked the sudden disappearance of the Boundary at the end. Talk about crazy. That one is gonna leave a mark. I also found the romance truly cute, funny and sweet. Full of lust too. Let me just say they made a wonderful family in the end. The kids were wonderful and apparently only their ability to shift came from their father. Damn that man was awful.

Lengthier than other previous novels by this author, this book nevertheless is much like them. Impossible situations suddenly turn into funny, entertaining and exciting ones with a bunch of interesting characters for whom the readers can't stop cheering for. Sam was shy, sweet, humble and just what an attractive, cursed and betrayed wizard needed in his life. Their romance was sweet, action-filled and of course full of magic. Gotta say though that the identity of the bad guy was kind of obvious...unlike the sudden appearance of Sam's sister! Now that I wasn't expecting.

And being adopted niece of the god Murphy? Even more entertaining. Sure guaranteed an avalanche of chaos and destruction with sex and laughter thrown in. And finally someone shut up Megan's son! Didn't particularly liked the more abusive and violent parts of this book or let me rephrase that, I didn't liked the abusive and violent parts of this couple's relationship. The actual violence in the novel didn't actually faze me one bit. Despite not liking this part of their relationship (I'm not much for BDSM or any form of humiliation or force in sex) they did made a lovely couple. Such strength both mental and physical was really entertaining specially when they fought and then had hot sex in whatever surface they could find.

After some very close calls for Megan, apparently everyone keeps trying to kill her to get to Tren, Tren finally surrenders and admits he loves her but don't tell anyone: it may prove bad for your health!

Even I was getting flustered by all her questions and boy was he against finding a mate. All worked out though when he suddenly discovered how to make her shut up and her passion by the same things, space and adventure.

In this novel, Maya the human woman destined to be Lex's mate, is not forced opposing the previous novel where the woman was abducted and kept initially against her will. Here Maya saves Lex from drowning and helps hiding him from the military until it's safe for him to supposedly find his mate, Amanda. What they both don't know is that Maya is the mate and not Amanda. While trying to find Amanda they can't stop falling in love with each other and have passionate sex every time they touch. Not caring he's breaking protocol and tradition Lex takes Maya for his mate, both then choosing to be together instead of the Oracle ordering it. Very romantic. Fortunately she really was his mate and there were no consequences to be leery of. Except the knowledge that apparently the military already know about the little blue aliens who come to earth to kidnap women.

I'm not much for sci-fi books, much less ones with aliens. It doesn't much matter if they're humanoid, with tentacles, green or blue. Space always interested me but I always preferred visuals instead of reading about it, so yes, I prefer films instead of books in this regard. Although I have to admit a certain enjoyment with this book...I also have to admit I only liked it because of the heavy romance present. Without it, no matter how beautiful and well written the descriptions of planets, I would have given up. The fact that the characters managed to overcome unbelievable odds to be together was exciting and hopeful and so satisfying in a way I wasn't expecting hence the three star rating and my willingness to continue this series.

I am a bit disappointed though for them not realizing something was wrong with the escape and not following through with finding out exactly what. Lucifer is devious and I simply love him. I always anxiously await his little appearances and mischief.

I do pity it for being small but alas I cannot have everything.

Very well written. I truly enjoyed the easy flowing of the plot, the snarky remarks and the main characters...It was funny, exciting and just plain good.

I absolutely loved them both. Ryker has that whole alpha male thing going for him which can be both sexy as exasperating so I really liked seeing him a little humble near Eva and the same goes for her. She is this strong witch who either wants to kiss him as kick his ass. They are both strong characters who bow to no one and yet either one brings the softer side of the other to the surface. Oh boy and the chemistry...Jesus. I thought they were going to end up in flames. Like I said previously...very well written indeed.

Not bad. Quite a different take on fairy-tales but I gotta say I love it so far. I was always more fascinated by the brother Grimms version than the so-called Disney version. I'm with those who think where there's immense beauty there's always immense darkness, you just have to see it so I am totally in favour of this series...Seems like fairy-tales here don't really have fairy-tale endings and Tales are just as messed up as any Ordinary or even more.

The main character was likeable and she didn't piss me off much so I guess I liked her enough. I was a little disappointed by her taking so long to realize Vlad was the bad guy, and no, I don't think that's much of a cliché because I've read stories where he's a good guy and absolutely loved him. But, in this case, it was so damn obvious that I saw it maybe halfway through the book. Didn't stop me from getting excited reading the end anyway! Specially the parts with Nate. Also a storyline I saw a mile away but fascinated the hell out of me too. Much like a bomb ready to blow up anytime.

I was sorry for Nicky though. I suspected Jules was going to die because I'd read the premise to the 3rd book of this series and it was about him and Trish and so kind of obvious Jules wasn't in the picture anymore...I'd been hoping for a quick divorce but alas death always works best I guess. I really hope Nick gets well.

And I really really hope Vlad gets what he deserves!

Better than the last one. The case they were working was much more exciting and it was interesting seeing how they worked the problems within their relationship. There were times when I became a little afraid they were going to mess things up but they worked things out well.

The mystery of mortuary was complex, a little grim and so interesting I read it fast and easily. I didn't had any problems with any turns or characters and thoroughly enjoyed everything.

I gotta admit I found it kind of dull and boring at first...it seemed like it was no different than the previous books and I was tired of the same things over and over. It did change a little towards the end and it's mostly why I think it deserves a three star rating. I ended up curious and anxious to read the rest of it and wasn't disappointed. Stanley finally had his chance to prove he loves Tom more than anything and Tom finally had the balls to say it to Stanley. Overall in terms of romance it was satisfying but again only in the last pages. In terms of the other part of the book (crime/suspense/thriller), it was much the same as ever only focused in Stanley's family instead of some anonymous killer or victim. I liked reading it to know more about Stanley but wasn't much interested apart from that. It wasn't engaging and I wouldn't have missed it if I had decided not to finish.

A little less mature than other works from this author but it completes the feel of the book. The characters range between 10 years old and little over thirty so it makes sense. I kind of expected some struggling from C.C. about suddenly being in an exclusive relationship but his past hangups never really showed. There was some awkwardness at the beginning but it was very well dealt with and the easygoing feel of everything never faltered. They never rushed into anything and it was ideal for the story because it certainly contradicted all the initial talk about C.C.'s lack of commitment.
I did kind of expected some lasting friendship between Astro and Spirit so I was a little disappointed it wasn't mentioned in the end but Astro and C.C.'s romance was more than enough to eclipse that. I really liked it.

Full developed story about a cowboy and an accountant. The plot is interesting but really focused on romance. There are some initial problems between them but it went mostly without a hitch. They seemed very good together from the start and it was interesting seeing them so in love. Don't count on many surprises or exciting obstacles on the plot. They seemed like two halves of a whole and there's not much they won't do for the other so it was a calm relationship only getting less calm with sex and boy did they had sex...anywhere and often. Very hot.

This book is a mixture of romance and suspense. The homicide investigation and the killer's way of escaping leaving no traces in his victims just added more excitement to everything. Besides the obvious difficulties of same sex relationships in the year of 1884, this couple has to deal with a murderer with a penchant for gay victims, being boss and employee, age difference and knowing that after the summer one of them is leaving. They do end up happy and together though. I think they both showed incredible strength and confidence. They managed to overcome all threats and difficulties and it was very nice see everything fall into place in their lives.

Some romance but this book is mostly focused on family. The gay couple seemed very cute together and their relationship was a slow burning one with a couple years to develop though still exciting. We get to see them struggle with insecurities, racism and a new born baby girl. Like their relationship, the plot took some time developing and there was some frustrating times. The end was a sweet and happy one and worked perfectly.

Review: The Cold King

I expected more at the end. It was good and fitting but lacked a certain flair and enough development to actually satisfy my curiosity about their new life as a couple.

I also found confusing how some normal attitudes the king had towards her, actions normal men would have no problem doing, suddenly meant he was in love with her. I didn't actually see the passion. He loved her yes, like I'm guessing he loved his sister, but didn't actually showed to be in love.
His two last romantic acts were things he should have done from the beginning as a true king towards his people. The two brothers were rapists and deserved nothing more than death and so it was not a favour done to her. The freeing of his servants was, again, the act of a just king. He had more than enough to pay them and they were loyal to him anyway. The implication that such actions were the result of his love for her is kind of disappointing...and if that is not the case, then I don't see his passion for her but simply compassion for another human being.
In her case, the love is obvious because she manages to actually forgive him for putting her in a dungeon twice, expel her from the castle when she needed help the most and also forgive him for almost killing her from hypothermia.

I see the development of a romance but not actually the romance. I expected much more. One kiss and a good apology does not make a good romance story. It ended being more drama than anything really and it was a shame.

And I give up...after a whole month trying to read this, I just can't stand it anymore. The premise sounds interesting but the execution...Dear Lord.

I've read a lot of books based in gangs, mafias and other criminal groups and let me tell you: this isn't even close. She's an enforcer? Really? 'Cause I waited 'till more than half this book and did not see more than a simple tug. A very poor one at that. For an enforcer who's supposed to be the right hand of the boss man...she sucks. Her boss is supposedly one of the most powerful sorcerers in the city and she can't even tie her shoes without falling on her ass? Either he's an idiot for keeping her or he's simply not that powerful.

And the amount of totally uninteresting info dumped on the reader...is truly staggering and has absolutely no function in the plot. Mainly it just confused the hell out of me and made me just want to bury this book somewhere dark where I won't be forced to finish it.

Not bad but there's a lot of telling instead of showing. It gets kind of boring after awhile to read it all. But it is a good romance though a little obvious. Not exactly a surprise she ended up falling in love with the genie. What did surprise me was her leaving her job, then again, she decided she wanted to be a writer so it went all well. Can't say I'll miss Mitch or Derek. Seems like she was kind of a magnet for bad man. It was a little disappointing not to see much of a relationship between them before she decided to tell him she loved him...I mean it was impossible of course but they never actually hinted anything. Kind of dropped the info into the last pages of the book. Still enjoyable though.

Not many thoughts about this one...the plot is picking up even though it never really went down and it's crazy. Fortunately it's a good crazy.

Charlie's life is more complicated than ever. Demons seem to sprout from every corner and Reyes decided to move into her apartment building although that's not exactly bad news. He seems to redeem himself to my eyes one minute and totally infuriate the next. Can't say I blame Charley for being confused.

Donovan. Oh man, I was not expecting them to be bank robbers. But they did deal well with Charley when she found out. I don't really blame them for the chair tying as it was her idea... Sad to see him, Michael and Eric go. They grew on me. Specially Donovan. Seemed like a charmer.

I gotta admit I'm still disappointed with her dad. More and more in fact. Uncle Bob seems to be the only sane one in that family and yes, I'm counting Charley too.

I can't wait for Charley to learn more about her powers...I'm getting tired of reading about her getting her ass kicked every time she steps out of the house. I would've stayed home for two months too if I were her!

The Good:

All the romance and I really mean all of it. It was hard and fast and sweet and slow at the same time. Hadrian is simply fascinating. His struggles to become more sane were excruciating to watch and I couldn't help suffering right alongside him. Eva was so naive but so sad, tortured and had such a strong will to survive it was impossible not to cheer for her every time she managed just a little more inch when dealing with Hadrian. The overall situation was such a thrill to
follow and really exciting. It was more brutal than the other relationships for sure, more primal.

The Bad:

Unlike the previous book, this one didn't focus much about the outside world. No other courses of action were shown. It very much based around the romance and although the romance was everything I had hoped I did miss the rest. I also missed the rest about Eva's family. I wished there had been repercussions for her mistreatment and for
their duplicity regarding her lineage to Hadrian. After all he is a King and her father misled him intentionally. I'm guessing he expected the crazed King to kill her before he managed to find out the truth.

Overall:

I'm satisfied. It was enjoyable, funny and dowright exciting to read. I can't wait to read about either Falcon with Queen Sonya and Silvie with Gannon. They both seem to carry a lot of drama!

One would think the Grim Reaper couldn't possibly get tortured but here's Charley to prove us wrong. Dr. Yost's case was fairly simple to wrap up despite all the evidence in contrary...Reyes's father was a little more difficult. Can't say I'll miss the bastard.

Boy was I surprised when I found out about Garret. Thank God he survived. I gotta admit I always thought he was going to end up being her guardian but fortunately he made it out alive. He kind of grew on me..like a fungus. Reyes, on the other hand, is kind of pissing me off. Constantly. I think I've finally realized he's bad for Charley. I hope she got it too.

Donovan. Now that's what I call being blind sided. I like him.

Her father's betrayal was...I don't even have words. I don't think our favourite Grim Reaper has them either.

Review: Second Grave on the Left

It was kind of hilarious finding out Reyes was in her basement...So damn obvious and yet it never crossed my mind either. Boy was he pissed she found him and bound him...can't say I disagree with him. I think it was probably the worse thing she could have done to him even though I understand her point of view. Anyway I absolutely love the feel of this series. It's well written, funny and so mysterious. I like Charley more and more. Cookie is the best friend ever and Reyes is a hell of a romantic interest. Emphasis on the hell part! Garret also seems like a nice guy in a not so nice way...Uncle Bob is awesome. I was kind of disappointed by her father but hey they seemed to have it worked out. Even Gemma and Denise seemed OK this book...Can't wait for the next.

Oh and Charlie's case about Hanna was also very interesting. I'm glad the bad guy wasn't so obvious. I would've never suspected a congressman's mom. Glad all ended well there. Too bad it took 20 years. I can't even begin to imagine the pain of Hanna's parents.

Damn. Now I want to read the next one!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, there was action, drama and romance but most importantly vampires, witches and other supernaturals. The writing was fantastic and I loved how easy it was to follow the plot. I also loved the characters, not only the main couple but all the amazing circle all around them. They were funny, dangerous and sexy. They all had their demons but fought so damn hard to be better...I loved the simplicity of how every piece fell in place. It sure seemed effortless even in their inner struggles.
