Surprisingly creative, thorough and well done. Not your run-of-the-mill kind of Sci-Fi Erotica. Definitely more focused on the human aspect of the book, the adventure and the romance between Bear and Cyke. It did get too technical in some places, in which I have to admit I didn't understand a single word, but I did enjoy it immensely and I always like a bad guy get his ass kicked. One way or another. Nice HEA too. Sweet but not impractical or unrealistic.

Not good nor bad. Just okay mostly. I didn't like Martin getting bitten just to keep him quiet. I think he would've anyway because of Callum and it was absolutely cruel to do so without his consent. Pretty ruthless. I don't think I would've been okay with that. I would've been angry and I would've kicked that girl's ass even if she kicked mine in return. And the lying about his possible death? Another thing I hated. In fact, I don't really know why he stayed with Callum. They weren't that great together.

Amazingly enough, I liked it a lot until the sex scenes. Because I gotta be honest and say I didn't much appreciate them. They were pretty kinky and weird and so not part of my reading style. Also kind of hard to imagine. But I did like the rest. The author made me care for someone who only uttered a single word in the entire novel and I imagine it wasn't an easy feet. Still curious about Ox's past tho.

Surprisingly good. Better than most shifter books lately. Developed characters, creative plot and world-building. Kind of cruel and gritty, just like I imagined a world with shifters would be. I really liked Sam and Gus and wanted to hit the other cats and wolves really bad! They were so awful and prejudiced and it made everything more real and believable if a little sad too. Great ending. I still think James earned at least a punch in the nose and I'm disappointed he never got it.

That pregnancy came out of nowhere and there wasn't really a reason for it 'cause they could and should have asked about that and other stuff and they didn't. They had an alpha gargoyle at their disposal and never bothered to ask anything relevant. Pretty reckless and idiotic. Then again, having sex was their priority the whole book. I don't think they even bothered to bond with each other very well...and the end was pretty anti-climatic too.

So many editorial issues, mixed names, spelling mistakes, grammar errors...the works. Or lack thereof. But I suffered through it all to reach the end. I think I deserve a cookie. I still didn't particularly like the way Bran and Nikko tried to rule Luc's life but, then again, that was Luc's fault because he let them. He never stood up for himself with them. It was kind of ridiculous considering his power. Anyway I'm happy to have read this 'cause I enjoy knowing the end of stories even when they're not perfect and Luc turning angel sure as hell wasn't perfect. It came out of the blue and with no excuse whatsoever. WTH? When he finally managed to get out of his father's thumb..you get him under Michael's. Nice.

I also found it slightly quirky to see an excerpt from the first novel in the end of this book. Kind of redundant, no?

Abrupt ending. I advise acquiring the other books before reading this one.

I think this is the best book Amber Kell has written so far. There's still some clichés and overall issues but it's very well written. The world-building is very interesting and creative. Witty and strong characters. Great plot.
There's still some insta-love/lust and their relationship definitely goes way too fast but, for once, it actually made sense because they were soul mates that had been together throughout all their incarnations. I did expect some more action but I wasn't much disappointed either. Good HEA as well.

I think the most interesting thing about this book was Ray's allergy to Lou's human side and it wasn't even that interesting but I also didn't find anything overtly annoying or offensive either so I didn't hate it. I even liked both characters, at least what I could get to know which wasn't much in the 1st place. That last problem introduced about Spike's last boyfriend...well, it just seemed like something the author remembered last minute to reason writing other books about the rest of the pack basically. Can't say I'm interested.

One more cliché and I was leaving this unfinished. Seriously.

I don't know Rowan's exact age but I'm guessing 25 'cause he made some comment about being banished after his 25th birthday...and it shows. How the hell is suddenly okay for a 700 year old vampire to mate a kid barely out of his teens is beyond me but I'll bite. He's a werewolf so maybe he matures differently.
I do wonder why all vamps seem to be doms all of a sudden tho. They started out monsters, then turned sparkly and now..they all seem to like being called master and chain people in their beds. Honestly? This is getting kinda weird. All alpha males seem to be carved from the same mold and apparently said mold is attuned to domineering idiots. The pathetic attempt of portraying the kid, Rowan, as an alpha too didn't work for me. It made me hope for something I had no chance of getting and it only frustrated me further. And, trust me, I was plenty frustrated before. How can you claim Rowan to be an alpha when all of his actions scream submissive? He was a spitfire sure but he always caved to Luca's demands. Only time he actually stood up to him was regarding Jackson. That's all. Other times he simply complained loudly and constantly but never did anything really.
Add the whole destined to be together crap and it sucked. Makes me think that no matter these men's opinions they would always be stuck together. How romantic is that?
Then again, of course, Rowan doesn't want leave either. He's suddenly in love with a guy he barely talks to. They do have sex tho. Multiple times. That makes it alright.
I'm not even commenting the HEA. I don't think it's worth it. And I am so not reading Everson's story with Carlton!

I liked it well enough I guess. It was entertaining, creative and interesting but I wasn't amazed or anything of the like, mostly it just served to pass the time. I didn't feel a real connection between the characters and I didn't feel connected to them either. Not because I didn't feel sympathetic to their situation but because there didn't seem to be much feeling behind their actions towards one another. They talked about their feelings a lot but didn't seem like they actually felt them..I guess that's the best explanation I can come up with. Either way, it was simply okay. Wasn't even moved by their HEA to tell you the truth.

The whole story is totally over the top. Aliens mixed with pirates. It's just plain weird, right? And then you get tentacle sex in the middle of this. I did like Aiden, for the most part, 'cause he totally rained down on Talon's parade. Talon grabbed Aiden expecting some meek little thing completely afraid of the big bad alien and Aiden dashed those expectation pretty much from the start. But, you did notice the "for the most part" comment right? 'Cause a kidnapped guy transported by a alien into the future does not act like everything is fine while being surrounded by space ships and other future crap! No way in hell. And that's before the "mate" situation, which makes everything even more ridiculous. Add some tentacles and you have a circus. Oh wait...yep. There's tentacles!

Basically? Not my thing. I did get curious enough to read it 'till the end tho.

I kinda had this feeling, throughout the whole book, of it all being overly dramatic. The plot, the character's feelings, the character's pasts...well...everything basically. Not that it was bad in any way. It was very interesting to read and both Logan and Kaden were very likable and relatable. But I certainly felt that things were always exposed in a way to draw the maximum attention to every single detail and it became quite exhausting after some time. The tension was always there and it felt like anything could and would make Kaden fall apart. He was totally functional one minute and curled into a ball the next. I accepted that at first but after seeing him do it, at least once a day, it just seemed exaggerated and maybe even artificial. There was no need to always repeat everything every single time he suffered a panic attack either. Only exacerbated the theatrical side for me and took some of my enjoyment.

Review: Latakia

Very well written. Creative. Witty. Awesome characters. I really liked the team. And I really liked Colorado. He was, by far, my favorite character. Not Travis or Matt, our main couple, but the crazy *ss bad-mouthed Navy Seal. Why? Because he was unique. A real treat.
I did like our couple too tho. Travis was really interesting and so was Matt. It did took me some time to actually warm up to them both though...we don't get to read Travis point-of-view until much later in the book and I wasn't really secure on my opinion of him due to his unwillingness to disclose being gay to his team. And Matt was really annoying about Brian in the beginning too. Very needy and insecure. And oh so neurotic and confused. I had a really hard time getting over his obliqueness regarding Brian and his manipulations. Glad everything ended well. Nice HEA.

Not bad. At least it was more creative than most books. I still didn't like how Caden was always supposed to defer to Valor but it wasn't obnoxious so I dealt with it. Besides...Caden did kick ass with Eliza. And Valor really seemed to like him. Two other things I found unnecessary: Sam's death and those two weeks Caden spent away from Valor. Those two scenes didn't really serve a point in the story and were unnecessarily cruel.

Hmm..aren't alphas supposed to show restraint? Kissing a guy just after you met him because he smells good doesn't exactly scream control, if you ask me. But it sure was super fun reading how an alpha got protected by a wizard before he could move. Worse, he was immobilized by him. Low blow to the alphaness (not really a word I know!) of the man for sure. Well...Justin, for such a bad-ass biker, sure was mellow too. And I'm positive the end was so abrupt just to give a certain bang but for me it was pretty anticlimactic. I'm not so sure the cliffhanger will work and make me read the next book. Don't know if it's worth it.


PS: There's also a certain number of typos and lack of punctuation. The world-building isn't great either and Peter was the worst alpha male ever.

Apart from the lengthy speeches everyone seemed to love giving about God, religion and Church, I quite liked this book. I would've preferred a lighter touch on Mormon's traditions, 'cause for someone not Mormon or even religious it sure was tedious as Hell, but I am too enamored with Jaime and Levi to really care about it. I still can't exactly accept that Levi's family continued to think he's a sinner for being Gay 'till the very end of the book but I will acknowledge they made some progress and it didn't end as badly as I'd thought. Needless is to say I don't agree with them in so many levels that it's ridiculous to even mention them, so I won't. I will admit that I'm still not sorry for reading this book despite that. I really loved them together. Their strength was truly inspiring. I really enjoyed this.

Oh I loved it so very much. So well written I suffered and laughed right along Trey and Vince. My family is just like this too even if we are a tad smaller. Like only 6/7 people instead of 60 something...I also don't know how they'd react if one of us was gay. As far as I know neither is but I do wonder from time to time. I do know some things are harder to admit even to ourselves much less to family so I really understood Vince. I also understood where Trey was coming from with his mom's addiction and alcoholism. The anger, the fear, the hopelessness...it eats you alive if you let it. So...great HEA. Really well done.

Oh boy...so many typos. Constant mixed names (someone who's a Natalie in the first paragraph is suddenly a Claire in the second). Insta-love. Smothering protectiveness from Sinclair and Callum's brothers. They basically treat Callum like a airhead child (totally ignoring the fact that he's a successful Chef who owns one of the best restaurants in town).
They are all also very pushy specially Sinclair: "I'll do whatever I like and you'll like whatever I give you." - *eye roll*
Sudden appearance of info in the middle of the story as a given when it was never mentioned before, for example, Callum mentions Sinclair's job as a mercenary numerous times but no one ever told him what Sinclair did for a living. Ever. And one of Callum's brothers actually bugged him! Seriously! Better...Sinclair actually goes to say he won't reveal this info to Callum if they don't give him any crap. Nice. Oh and that HEA. I think it was supposed to be incredibly romantic but for me it was incredibly high-handed and tacky.

Interesting enough but I liked the previous better. Argent seemed to have some difficulty showing his feelings and it made for a less thrilling story. I wasn't very sure of anything with him or Michael. They were very controlled, even with each other. Never really seemed to relax and just be.

Touching Sparks by Ginn Hale

Much more violent than the other two. Some blood and gore. I did find the relationship between Moran and James to be slightly more "real" because they knew each other previously and their romantic feelings towards one another took their time to bloom. No insta-love here. I also liked all the action. Very well written. Nice HEA.

I thought this one would be slower considering both characters had came out of past relationships recently, Ash's mate was killed and David had to leave his, but the rhythm stayed pretty much the same. We did get more of a background for both of them tho and it made it so much better. I also liked reconnecting with previous couples.

Completely unrealistic but I laughed my ass off every time Chance opened his mouth. I also liked Adam a lot. Not much depth though to either Chance or Adam. You're told but not shown and even that is not much. Their relationship also progresses way too fast. Adam seems to trust Chance immediately and it's not exactly the reaction I expected from someone with a past like him. Seems way too easy and simple. Same about Chance regarding Adam. Picture perfect ending wasn't something I expected either.

He acted badly when he first found out about Seth but totally redeemed himself throughout the rest of the novel. Really nice to watch. Very brave of Seth how he managed to move forward after such a traumatic event in his past too. Super cute together. Curious about Nick and Kasey's brother now.

Yeah. I didn't like Ricky. I wanted to hit him every single time he called her "bébé" or, you know, every time he opened his mouth. It was annoying as hell. And I like confident. Cocky? Pushy? Arrogant? Not so much. Of course Patricia's own willingness to go with whatever he said made me want to hit her too. Was Stu the only sane one? Wanting to give her time and letting her make her own decisions? It appeared so...
She started pretty good trying to stave Ricky off but then completely derailed out of nowhere. Suddenly she couldn't stop thinking about him and wanting him, which I was fine with, but the whole cocky attitude really grated my nerves and I can't really understand how she managed to accept it and lust for him. He was even crude and chauvinistic. How a woman used to deal with this kind of behavior daily gets turned on by this is truly a mystery. I really don't get it.
Stu was fun tho. I really liked his character. He was brave, stubborn and strong but never tried to push his will on others. I also liked his shyness. Totally adorable.

Female meets male. They want each other and have sex. But male has a secret. He was sent to Earth to impregnate her with his seedling (his words, not mine!). He proceeds to do so BEFORE telling her. Then tells her. She's upset. He storms out of the room ('cause he obviously has cause to be upset, not her). She goes after him. They have sex again. He thinks he should request permission to have another child with her. He leaves.

One year later: She had a boy named Lucan. He comes back. They proceed to have more sex. He informs her he plans on staying earthbound. Asks her to marry him. She hesitates. He manipulates her into accepting through sex. THE END.

So I guess my opinion is obvious. If not, you need glasses. Or a change of mentality.

2. Erotic Sacrifice by Cynthia Rayne

Well, I was pretty stoked. Couldn't be worse than the previous right? Then the collar came out...after that I kinda lost interest, specially every time the main couple opened their mouths. I swear, nothing good ever came out. The whole submitting to him without knowing his identity? Kinda creepy. Add a picture perfect HEA and I couldn't help feeling a little nauseated with the whole thing.

3. Collar by Katie Blu

Actually fun to read despite the totally unrealistic feeling throughout the whole story. I guess I shouldn't have been paying so much attention to details but I couldn't help it and it really irked me how the whole "undercover DEA agent" thing played out. I was also amazed how some sex suddenly made them in love. But, alas, that seems to be the norm nowadays.

4&5. Incensed by Kate Hill & Making the Madam by Delilah Devlin

Submitting, mastering...blah, blah, blah. I was pretty disheartened by now and couldn't have cared less about this book.

6. The Emissary by Jenna Reynolds

I only touched this one at all after being disappointed by the others 'cause this story had been the reason I bought the book in the first place. I gotta say it was still touch and go tho. I was kinda afraid of another miss but...the aliens dammit! I was curious about the aliens! So I picked it up and I liked it. Really liked it. In fact, I think this story made it all worth it. It's creative, weird and funny. The characters were truly captivating and the HEA was exactly what I wanted. Happy without being over the top or cheesy.

Whole reason this anthology actually achieved the three star rating, that's for sure.

Review: Nature of the Beast

Nature of the Beast by Amylea Lyn

Better than I thought. Very dystopian. Amazing world-building. Creative characters. Very well done. I was particularly happy with the first part of the novel and then...They entered that village...and this amazing story got converted into every other PNR novel I've come across. Turns out all I thought was unique about this plot wasn't really that unique, just seemed to be. The beast isn't really a beast just a normal shifter. The dystopian world we got to know isn't really that exclusive or rare 'cause there's a whole normal world just outside waiting. Raine, this amazing outcast "human" who can generate life turns out to be just another submissive guy without much power. Talk of being each others lives suddenly became talks of high councils, alphas, tribes, ect...more politics. End up with a pretty HEA and that's a wrap.

I'd give a four star rating to the first 2/3 of this book. The rest isn't really good.
