Review: Sixty Five Hours

Sixty Five Hours
Sixty Five Hours by N.R. Walker

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Surprisingly good, witty and in-your-face. It's about two gay men, one who's out of the closet, very up front about anything in his life named Lucas and the other, Cameron, more shy, unsure and completely afraid of what his parents will think about his sexuality. They work at the same firm, owned by Cameron's dad and they land an ad campaign to make together in 65 hours. It's very enlightening to see how they try to work together between bouts of doubt and sexual awareness although maybe half the book is just about their relationship after they're together...and the sex. The amazing amount of sex. The variety. The creativity. You get my point. Fortunately it's also very romantic and the one-liners are really funny and make it totally worth it.

Review: How (Not) to Kiss a Toad

How (Not) to Kiss a Toad
How (Not) to Kiss a Toad by Elizabeth A. Reeves

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It's kind of stuffy in the middle. You get a lot of descriptions that aren't exactly necessary and I ended up a little bored but apart from that it's really witty and funny. The plot is interesting and captivating and really creative. I liked this new version of the prince turned toad and reawakened by a true love's kiss. I did end up with a lot of questions though and no answers. I was expecting some revelation, maybe about Cindy's father or her magic, but none came forward. And although I did like Timothy...I don't think we actually learned enough about him for her to fall in love.

Tempest's Fury by Nicole Peeler

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Well...I sure as f*ck didn't see that one coming and boy am I flabbergasted. Yeah I just used flabbergasted. Because I really am. This author managed to kill one of my favourite characters and transform Anyan into the White King in a single paragraph. It's just...WOW. I mean, I knew the plan wouldn't work because it would be just too easy but this really came out of nowhere. I am amazed and pissed at the same time. Congratulations Miss Peeler. I bow to your awesomeness.

Review: Eye of the Tempest

Eye of the Tempest
Eye of the Tempest by Nicole Peeler

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Two things crossed my mind immediately after reading this book: first is that after everything that went down I really hope Jane got more than a Labrys to fight with and second...She and Anyan really need to find a nice little place and stop being interrupted. They've been trying to be alone for the last 2 books. It's getting depressing and ridiculous by now. Talk about missed chances. And finally someone killed Phaedra. Yay. A win. About damn time!

And of course Jarl was able to escape...again, just like all his minions too. It's being kind of repetitive and ridiculous. Someone should really do something about it. Apart from that...it was another awesome Jane True novel. The plot is absolutely addictive and Jane is finally coming together and into her powers. Can't wait to learn more.

Review: Tracking the Tempest

Tracking the Tempest
Tracking the Tempest by Nicole Peeler

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Oh I totally loved this one even though I was so sorry for all the bad things that happened. Really violent stuff and I even felt sorry for Con too. It did make me happy to see Jane grow a backbone, stand up to Ryo and finally put through her head she really needs to train before she gets killed. I also loved all the new character and the insight on Anyan. Of course the one-liners are just plain perfect to ease all seriousness and give just that one touch to the book.

Review: Tempest Rising

Tempest Rising
Tempest Rising by Nicole Peeler

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I'm surprised I like Jane so much but it's true. I considered maybe she would be either weak or too hard to relate with but she's surprisingly a mixture of the two. She also accepted most things she found out about herself and some people around her very calmly. She only flipped out when confronted with gruesome details and let's be honest..we would too. Ryo seems very smart and incredibly charming and I can see why she likes him so much although I also like Anyan very much. I think only Jane was surprised by the revelation in the end. Overall the plot is amazing and captivating. I'm anxious to continue this.

Howling at the Moon
Howling at the Moon by Karen MacInerney

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Not particularly ground breaking for me but interesting enough. The story is mixed with a little mystery, drama and action and it's captivating even though there aren't enough events to qualify as amazing. Sophie seems more human than wolf and even tough I understand her mom about knowing her true-self I also agree with Sophie that it's her decision. I really hope she gets a break soon enough. This adventure sure seemed to rattle her a lot. Now..the romance. I like them both but I'm still partial to Heath. He seems like a wonderful boyfriend and really doesn't deserve all her doubts. Anyway I liked it.

Review: Hell Hounds Are For Suckers

Hell Hounds Are For Suckers
Hell Hounds Are For Suckers by Jessica McBrayer

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This one was a free read recently at Amazon and the reason why I started reading the series. It's about Hannah, Lilly's best friend from the first novel and tells the story of how she found a hell hound and later fell in love with its owner, Diel a demon. They start out cussing and fighting but soon move to wide-eyed lusty expressions and love promises. Very cute together and funny. Loved seeing so much of Aidan. I honestly missed him although I have to admit to loving Hannah and Diel too.

The Huntress
The Huntress by Dorothy McFalls

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was surprised by how good this book was. It's very well written and the story really captivated me. There's humour, drama and lots of old fashioned action with bullets flying and violence in every corner. Vega (weird name but cute) and Grayson sure were an interesting couple too. Very intense. I think it a shame this isn't a series. I wouldn't mind reading more about them.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I was kind of expecting Lilly to be more tough considering she was a shifter but apart from that and the abrupt ending...it was fun and entertaining. I liked Lilly a lot and Dante was a true alpha male without being obnoxious or forceful so...overall they were pretty cute and right for each other. The story was captivating, light and sexy. Not bad at all.

Review: For Whom The Spell Tolls

For Whom The Spell Tolls
For Whom The Spell Tolls by H.P. Mallory

My rating: 0 of 5 stars

Sorry but I gave up right in the beginning. I don't know. Maybe it's my fault because I've been so disappointed with the previous two books I couldn't get into this one properly...Although I read some spoilers and discovered Knight and Dulcie end up together and I'm sorry but that does not fly with me after all that happened between them. This ending is just so obvious and so expected...And I don't know about any other readers but I'm never surprised by anything Bram does because it's Bram! Which books have you been reading? Anyway...I wanted Dulcie with BRAM or even Quillan. Not Knight! That's just so...boring. Glad I didn't waste my time.

Malice In Wonderland
Malice In Wonderland by H.P. Mallory

My rating: 0 of 5 stars

Ok I read maybe a quarter of the book until I was so pissed off with Dulce I couldn't even see the letters anymore. I can't believe how she can even think of touching Knight after all he did much less let him touch her. UN-f*cking-believable. Someone please slap the idiocy out of her! I have no words to describe how pissed off I am. How did this series got to this point? Why destroy such an awesome relationship to the point where I don't even like Dulce and Knight when they are separate much less together? I am seriously rooting for Bram and he's capable of being one obnoxious son of a b*tch when he wants to but I can't honestly see her anymore with Knight. Bond be damned. Hell at this point I'm seriously beginning to think even Bram is way too good for her.

Review: Wuthering Frights

Wuthering Frights
Wuthering Frights by H.P. Mallory

My rating: 0 of 5 stars

I'm not rating this book because I kind of feel betrayed by this author...My friends keep telling me the ending really sucked, I personally thought the end of the previous book also sucked and I really just read the highlights so I could pass this up and start the next one. I'm currently between hating the author to hating Knight. Dulcie pretty much lost most of her appeal to me as she is now weak and a fool and I'm really sorry to see such an amazing character fall so hard. Same with Knight. He was always kind of overbearing and forceful but I never thought I would see him act so badly. I am deeply disappointed with them both. I really hope the next one is better or I won't be able to stomach it and will simply give up this series which would be a real shame. And to think I initially liked this one better than the Jolie Wilkins Series...

Review: Great Hexpectations

Great Hexpectations
Great Hexpectations by H.P. Mallory

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Wow. I wasn't seeing that one coming about her father, then again, it becomes quite obvious after we analyse Knight's attitude regarding what happened and how he never wanted Dulcie to get involved in the situation. I also can't help wondering she should've risked it and shot the bastard between the eyes, alarm or no alarm. She just got herself in a worse situation and of course Quillan is involved. I'm starting to wish for someone to shoot him and be done with it too. He's certainly an a**hole. Also I'm pissed with this ending. If I didn't have the next book already I'd be swearing like a sailor right about now. It's a major cliffhanger and a pretty awful outcome of all of this. It certainly felt like this book was pretty heavy and dramatic regarding the previous ones. There's almost no happy times in this book and the end is plain infuriating. I even dare think Dulcie was pretty weak after all the trouble she went through to secure Knight's security. I'm curious but not really in the mood to read anymore. I really don't know if I'll return to it soon.

A Tale of Two Goblins by H.P. Mallory

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Better and better and a lot more dramatic too. Can't say it's not great though. The writing, the characters, the plot...It is entertaining, captivating and just damn good. Dulcie is stubborn, hard-headed and tough. She's also sweet, passionate and a wonderful friend from what we could read in this book. I really loved it. Kinght is a great romantic interest too. Although I have to admit I kind of like all her romantic interests. Yes, Bram and Quill too. They are all flawed but so sweet with her. And now I'm curious to know why Knihgt's eyes glow when he's with Dulcie. Nice job with that cliffhanger. Hope it's a good one.

Oh I think I love this one better than the Jolie Wilkins Series. There's somewhat less emotional drama and I kind of appreciate it after re-reading the whole other series recently. There's also action, supernatural creatures (not much naked yet) and a very interesting main character. The plot is also very captivating and I can't help feeling it's going to get better and better. Very enjoyable.

Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble by H.P. Mallory

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a re-read and amazingly enough I've loved it just like the first time. The writing is very good, the characters are interesting and loveable and the plot is still captivating even though I already knew what was going to happen. I also still have the same problems with it. Like seeing Jolie as a capable witch, I just can't seem to see her as capable yet despite her improvement and all the mystery around her capabilities and how she does things without knowing how... It's pretty annoying but I also can't say it makes me love this book any less. It probably just makes it better.

Surprisingly good. The first few pages didn't impress me much but I endured and ended up liking this a lot. It's a totally new side to this genre watching a heroine struggle through motherhood while chasing down supernatural creatures. Grace's reactions to some situations are also hilarious. Sometimes I think I even agree with her assessment of her mental state. She's borderline psychotic. Or a closeted teenager. Not really sure yet. Anyway the plot is interesting enough and I'm anxious to get my hands on the second novel. It promises to be captivating and creative.

Review: Her Fallen Angel

Her Fallen Angel
Her Fallen Angel by Felicity E. Heaton

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Even though there is a conspiracy in the main plot and a fight with another angel in this book, the romance in itself was very slow and sweet contrary to the one between Apollyon and Serenity. Lukas and Annelie met each other three years ago and had been slowly falling in love ever since. Their relationship was a little rocked by her discovery that Lukas was an angel but was otherwise perfect. They really seemed to love each other since the beginning and was just a matter of time to see it bloom. The conspiracy seems like an awesome premise to follow up on and it was very interesting to see it unfold even just a little.

What Would Satan Do?
What Would Satan Do? by Anthony Miller

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Kind of anticlimactic if you ask me. Also, like I said in all my updates throughout the book, a very large part of this book was pretty boring. I could not find any positive aspect every time the book shifted from Lucifer's and Liam's views to those of the Texas Governor and the priest Cadmon. They were so damn boring it wasn't even funny. The other parts though...I loved it. Lucifer was amazing. Laugh out loud amazing. Liam, Lola, Raju and Festor were pretty cool too. Can't say I've cried over the others deaths. They were unimportant to me. But I did expected some kind of...well flair. Considering that Ezekiel was the bad guy...shouldn't there have been some other angel trying to stop the end of the world besides Lucifer? Like Michael or Gabriel? Like I said before: anticlimactic.

Humm. I could say that I liked it but I'm not completely sure. It was so complex and changed viewpoints so fast it was pretty complicated to keep up and understand everything. I also had quite some trouble seeing Macey give up so easily I guess. I know it wouldn't have been a walk in the park but did she had to make it so effortless? I don't know...I'm just saying the whole book left a pretty sour after-taste when I finished. And I know a book with God, Lucifer and the Armageddon is bound to have some religion but was it really necessary to choke me with it?

The Cure
The Cure by Teyla Branton

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A bit more action and gore than in the first book but I still loved it. Overall the plot is amazingly captivating and passionate. I love all the twists and turns. Romantically speaking...Erin and Ritter, there's a lot of drama and lust while with Keene is more of a blooming of friendship and something possibly more permanent despite his mortality. In fact, it's one of the downsides of this book for me. I really like Keene maybe even more than Ritter and its quite difficult to wrap my mind around him dying. I was also seriously sad about Bronson. Completely unfair for him to die precisely after they found the cure although later we actually find there was no cure whatsoever. Poor Stella. To wake up and find both her husband and unborn son dead. Good thing they finally found the location of the other Renegades. At least something good resulted for all this trouble. Of course Tom and Justine's deaths also lifted my spirits. Can't wait for October to get my hands on the 3rd book.

Not usually my cup of tea involving cops, ex-cons and FBI among other things but it was surely entertaining. There's a lot of romance intermingled with drama, suspicion and suspense. Also despite the racy cover there's only a couple kisses and one sex scene, nothing major. It centrers mostly in Allison's attempt to regain her life and son after a two-year prison sentence for a crime she didn't commit and her lust and passion for the upstairs neighbour cop. There's threats, attacks and even a kidnapping to keep you involved and captivated and I admit it worked for me.
