Review: Back from the Undead

Back from the Undead
Back from the Undead by D.D. Barant

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wow. In the end I was so damn overwhelmed...I didn't even saw that one coming. Stokes giving himself up to Jace. I just thought he would simply disappear after their truce. Guess not. Kinda of a downer though. So much time spent on trying to catch him and he just gives up due to a deal with a minor god. Okaaaaay. Cassius being in trouble was quite obvious. Too bad we didn't get to see much of it before the end of this book. Jace being affected by that spell is downright worriesome. I don't know how she'll survive in Thropirelem without her firearm. Hope she manages to find a solution!

Moving along...I read an excerpt of the next book and boy was I confused. Still am. I have no idea about what that excerpt was about. I guess that's one way to keep a reader interested. As if I needed further encouragement! November sure seems far away! Oh well. Gotta wait.

Oh by the way. I was sorely disappointed with so little Cassius in this book. Like Jace says: "One lousy night." - After that it's just confusing dream appearances. So not right!

Review: Better Off Undead

Better Off Undead
Better Off Undead by D.D. Barant

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Go Cassius go! Finally. I was afraid the guy was going to die right after saying he loved Jace. Jesus! That was a damn close call. Glad everthing worked out fine.
Anyway I spent the whole book pissed at Tair and Jace. Tair because he infected Jace. Jace because despite that enourmous betrayal she never actually considered killing him although that was the easier solution to her problem. I'm not saying she should have killed him. Just that she should have considered it. I think she focus way too much energy trying get Dr. Pete back. I really liked him so I kinda understand her position but it also gets her vulnerable. She lets things get ou of control because she's afraid she'll lose Dr. Pete again. Ok. So I guess he's still there somewhere. But doing that magic thing she did? Stupid. Really stupid.
Anxious to read the next one. Please be more smart Jace!

Review: Killing Rocks

Killing Rocks
Killing Rocks by D.D. Barant

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The most awesome so far. Absolutely loved this storyline with the lems revolution! I actually prayed for Charlie to live. Thank God it worked!
Too bad the bad guys managed to get away again. It's getting a little tiresome but necessary I guess for the main plot...Still hard though.
Interesting knowing more about Charlie and his life.
Introducing Azura was amazing. Nice to know that not every human that comes into the story is either weak or crazy. That's pretty much it. I advise reading to actually understand the coolness of this book!

Review: Death Blows

Death Blows
Death Blows by D.D. Barant

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ah I totally saw that one coming. Cassius being the Centurion. Come on. The guy was directly responsible for 6 million human deaths. He had to have a redeeming quality! A super hero. Wow.
Silverado being the bad guy? Didn't convince me. I don't know. I just liked the guy (lem) since day one. Couldn't imagine him suddenly killing his partners even if was a brief partnership. He's a lem. And if there's a thing most lems have is loyalty. Brother Stone however... Yeah. That one never entered my cool list. Turns out he was human and absolutely crazy. Not that shocking! And not a very great loss when he decided to kill himself really.
Dr Pete however. Wow. There's a loss I wasn't expecting! And the way it happened...I almost cried. So yeah, there's Tair now. Not the same thing at all. Far as I see it Tair's a totally new character. I don't trust him and don't really like him either. Hope he gets better or does something totally bad so Jace can know where she stands with him.
Okay, I'm done.
Oh almost forgot. So cute of Cassius to help Gretchen with her baby. Like Jace said: "It's not a big deal at all. And definitely not the sweetest thing I've ever seen one friend do for another. "

Review: Dying Bites

Dying Bites
Dying Bites by D.D. Barant

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Amazing first book. First books are always way to informative or not at all. This one managed just the perfect balance for me. Enough for me see a glimpse inside this "crazy" world the author created but not enough to be overloaded with unnecessary info. Don't get me wrong, that are still a lot of stuff to be overwhelmed about. Thankfully Jaces rants actually brings us more or less back to reality.
So yeah 4 stars. I'm already reading the next one!

Review: Deadlocked

Deadlocked
Deadlocked by Charlaine Harris

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wow. So what do I think about this book? I don't really know. Sookie's life has become so troubled and complicated that I just can't seem to be content with whatever Charlaine Harris writes. Don't get me wrong. I liked this book. It kept me reading 'till I almost fell off with exhaustion. But I sure as hell did not like the ending! Oh yes I think Sookie did the right thing using the claviel dor to bring Sam back to life. I would have been SO majorly pissed if she had used it to save Eric from his wedding with the Queen. As I see it, Eric can get himself off the hook if that's what he really wishes. I'm not sure he actually does wish it which is why I wouldn't like Sookie to waste the claviel dor's magic on him. So when Sam died...yeah I panicked. He's one of my favourite characters. So was Eric but he really has been an asshole lately so..he's a couple steps lower in my list. The ending I'm saying I didn't like was the abrupt finish. Charlaine Harris has done this pretty much in all her books but this time it really irked me. I cannot believe she left us readers hanging after such dramatics. It sure won't help pass the time till next book. And it's such a long waiting!

Anyway she did do a really good job with Claude's treachery..I did not saw that one coming...and I usually do. I knew something weird was going on with the fairies of Hooligans but it never crossed my mind Claude was trying to rebel against Niall. After all he did fight by his side on the fae war... I was thinking something more along the lines of murdering humans...trying to confront the vampires about control of the area...like that. But I was actually pleasantly surprised. Never really liked Claude although he did have his moments! So Sorry to see Dermot go though. Even Bellenos. And he creeped me out so much! I think I'll miss the fairies. Truly.

That's it I think. I could go on. Mostly complaining about Sookie being so blind sometimes and other times being so smart but it's not really relevant and I'm tired of being up for so long so I could finish the book today. So I'm off to try taking a well deserved nap. Good reading everyone!
