I hate that she chose Desmond. I love him, I really do, but the whole werewolf side of this story lost all its sparkle for me when Lucas left Secret at the altar. I seriously cannot see her being happy in a pack, specially if she divorces Lucas and loses her position as Queen. She doesn't take orders well. She's always badmouthing people and she has no filter whatsoever. Choosing Desmond will also make her lose her position as Tribunal (which can only be truly lost with her death). Not a good thing. I also can't understand her fascination with Desmond. She talks about being normal a lot but she was human and decided to change back. I don't get it. I really don't. And the whole thing made me incredibly frustrated throughout the whole book. The only thing that made me remotely happy was Peyton and Mercy's deaths. It was about time. All the rest was just...incredibly annoying and tiresome. I did cry a little when she told Holden she was marrying Desmond and he told her he would love her always and forever. Which, again, made me want to throttle her all over again.

Review: Hellsbane

You know when you start reading a book and immediately know it's not your cup of tea? That's what happened with this book after a couple of sentences. The plot is not necessarily bad. I mean, it didn't captivate me nearly enough, but the premise sounded good and I didn't want to DNF so I kept going. Honestly? I want my time back. Again, it's not terrible but it could've been so much better. I didn't care for Emma's love life. I'm sorry but if something major happens in someone's life I seriously doubt their 1st thoughts are about how hot the guy looking at her is. Or how awesome his eyes are. In this book this happens every time Tommy or Eli talk to her. It's ridiculous. Not to mention insane to get involved with either of them...so she obviously gets involved with both. Why the hell not? It's not like you have demons after your head or anything...I'm sure they'll wait until you're done. Then Tommy dies. Not exactly a surprise and she goes all ballistic for what? 30 seconds? Okay...maybe half an hour. But I think I'm being generous here. Her master plan is of course to hunt down Tommy's father. For once we agree. I guess it was just too much to ask for her to actually plan something but...By this point I didn't even care about what happened next. I was bored out of my mind, couldn't make myself like Emma, Eli or any other character and the plot was going downhill. The ending turned out not be as awful as I was expecting but I don't think I'll be following the story anyway.

Review: Witch for Hire

1st thought I had after I finished: "Is that it? Talk about a lackluster ending".

I was not impressed by this novel. Technically it wasn't too bad, just some minor editing problems and even those were sparse so I wasn't very upset. But the plot was rushed, the characters weren't very fleshed out and the worldbuilding felt inconsistent, boring (which was a new low considering there were supernatural crimes all over the place) and incomplete.


As a main character, Michelle is not all that interesting to get to know. I think her lack of reaction is supposed to be a sign of maturity and control but it makes her feel muted somehow. I couldn't connect with her. I couldn't understand her reasoning or her actions. To me, it looked like she was just passing by the events in her life instead of actually live them.

Her mother felt like a cardboard side character. Same can be said for her father. I thought his sudden appearance was going to move things up a bit but Michelle just carried on as if her father had been absent for a day instead of 25 years. Her friends are pretty much non-existent. They are there but you barely see them.

Elron, the elf, could've been a great addiction if he had actually done anything besides showing up.

The bad guy/girl...wasn't much of a bad guy. Kind of stupid and boring...so much so it made the whole ending scene pretty anti-climatic. Not that Michelle was better. She made a foolhardy plan without a single fail-safe and is surprised when things go wrong and she almost gets killed. Not to mention her lack of knowledge of any type of self-defense. No matter how powerful a witch is there is always a chance there is someone better or with more resources. Specially when one is working for the police and helps catch bad guys. Either learn to protect yourself or go home. Idiot.

Review: Poison Fruit

My thoughts as I was reading this book:

Daisy is still as clueless about herself as she was in the first two novels and, while that was cute when she first showed up, now it's just stupid. For someone who claims self-control since a young age her actions show otherwise. She appears immature and reckless. A certain measure of such behavior is expected due to her parentage but, like I said, her control should be definitely better.
Her attitude regarding Cody is cowardly. Her attitude regarding Stefan is cowardly and stupid. At this point I'm wondering what both of them see in her but also what I see in this series. I'm incredibly disappointed.
And when the ravening scene happened between her and Stefan, I really wished I was reading a paperback instead of a e-book just so I could throw it against the wall. That's how frustrated Daisy made me. And then she needed to be rescued and I stopped reading because I was bloody furious and I just had to stop reading it before I snapped and tossed my tablet through the window.
I guess some part of me doesn't want to be mean and currently that is the only reason why I'm not giving this book a one star rating. Otherwise? The plot no longer holds my attention. Daisy, Stefan and Cody are idiots. And I reached my breaking point.


Two hours later I came back and read it all to the end. I don't regret it but I will never repeat the experience.

The ravening episode was solved way too easily and, again, why were they together? It's not that I didn't like Stefan. I just didn't like Daisy and him together. At least it wasn't Cody. Not a huge endorsement but the best I can do. The whole court thingy...Can I just say how dumb it was not to prepare the witnesses? Or the plan in general? Was everyone really thinking a charm would suddenly make everything right? There were so many freaking holes in that plan!
Now..the war...I think it was the one and only redeeming quality of this book. It was very well done. Seriously...Everything else? I'm just glad this is over. For good. Oh and she gets Cody. Joy.

PS: I added a star because of the war. Only thing worth reading in the whole novel.

About what I expected after reading and enjoying the 1st novel of this series. The book still seems somewhat short and rushed but, like I said previously, I really like the flow and the main characters. I also like that Allie seems more concerned about saving the world than her next boyfriend. It's a nice change of pace. The mysteries don't hurt either. Overall it's an incredibly entertaining package. Well done. I honestly hope I don't have to wait long for the next book.

Review: Pretty When She Dies

Honestly? I wanted to shake Amal most of the time but I absolutely loved this book. It was so beautifully written I have no other choice but to grudgingly accept its awesomeness. The story flowed very well, always with a great sense of horror, pain and wonder. The pace changed a bit after the first chapters but her relationship with Cian actually made everything better instead of dividing the focus of her struggle to survive to sudden mushy romance. It was actually rejuvenating and unusual. Their relationship seemed to strengthen both of them and position them more firmly into their own roles. Made them more confident. More alert. More themselves. While also shaking their world upside down. Impossible not to like it. Was it perfect? Not really but I definitely enjoyed it.

Review: Earth's Requiem

I'm not a fan of cliffhangers. Fortunately or unfortunately, this one didn't disturb me much. You would think it's a good thing, right? But if I was actually invested in it, I would be pissed and raving about it. I'm not. I can certainly see the effort put into the world-building and appreciate it but I didn't like Aislinn and she pretty much ruined this for me. I was intrigued enough by the premise and subsequent plot to keep going 'till the very end but I don't think I'm picking up the next book. I simply couldn't connect with her. Her choices often didn't make sense to me. Her lightning romance with Fionn was annoying as hell. I know people find pre-ordained romances all perfect but, for me, it just feels restricting and forced. But, most of all? Everything just seemed confusing to me. The reasons behind anything either weren't given at all or were simply ignored after a couple sentences to give way to more sex between Fionn and Aislinn. And he can give her between 5 to 10 orgasms every single time they have sex? Either he's VERY skilled, she's VERY green or the author has VERY high expectations from men.

Review: Blood Bond

I expected so much more of this final installment. I wanted it to go out with such a bang I'd remember it for months...Unfortunately it fizzled for me. Not to say it was bad...it wasn't. This series was one of my favorites and it will keep its place in my heart for sure but...I am disappointed. I expected better after thousands of words designed to amaze me, to make me soar, to make me abandon my reality and embrace Anna's. This book was just sad. Not sad because Anna's mom was dying, not sad because it was the last but because it didn't deliver that "out of body experience" you get if a book is good enough. Everything felt rushed. Anna seemed not even herself and the plot was so wrapped around the romance/wedding I don't even know what was the point of Vlad, Chael and Steffan. Such big bad boys...limited to hiring stylists and giving terrible speeches.

I do not approve.

A more action focused novel would've given me more pleasure than all the lovey-dovey stuff.
