Talk about a crash course. Less than 30 pages in my ereader, that's how long this is. It was sweet, fun and sexy but I totally crashed and burned with that end. Boy, was that disappointing. It was so abrupt I didn't even noticed it before starting reading the credits.

A little over dramatic towards the end but nice enough. Less incomplete than the previous one. This book actually told a nice story from the beginning to the end without messing it up much. I still feel like it could've been better but this was enjoyable and interesting nevertheless. I also liked Duncan a lot more than I liked Ranton. He was all alpha but with a mischievous glint that made everything bearable and funny. Nice ending.

Meh. I think I like the overall idea behind the book but the book in itself doesn't do anything for me. The sex was hot and sexy but the rest isn't even worth mentioning. It seems extremely undeveloped and the characters really show it. They are one dimensional and extremely irritating. I really disliked Ranton's personality. He was possessive bordering on obnoxious and abusive. Jentaron seemed like a nice guy but I felt their situation kind of weird. Like "let's have sex but it's a one time deal because you're my guardian and Ranton's mate. I'm only using you to learn" kind of thing. Not to mention how sexist everything was..."I'm your father and you'll do as you're told" and "You're mine Eve. I'm in charge". Seriously? Freaking seriously? She's the daughter of a fallen and she can't even put up a fight? Wow. I felt women's rights fly out the door when I finished reading this. Really.

Thought this would have lots of action but the only action worthy of my attention was the one between the sheets. Can't say I didn't like reading that foursome although I didn't exactly understood the need to have one for her to be marked and shift. Kind of got my hopes up for a relationship between them all...what can I say? I thrive on weird. I did nevertheless liked seeing her with Burke. They were sweet even despite all those alpha pheromones making him act all possessive and jealous which I wasn't very fond of. Overall it was enjoyable but not much to look at.

1st story:

Not much impressed. It feels undeveloped and confusing. The plot is somewhat interesting but the execution leaves much to be desired and it is a real shame because Aislin is just the type of character I'd have liked to know better. I also liked Det. Rodriguez..oh man. A lick here and there would've been great.

2nd story:

I'd already read it but didn't mind reading it again. Much better than the first. More complete and better written. A real shame the story never went farther.

Review: The Fury

Not bad for a first instalment. I can't seem to shake this feeling of unfulfillment though...the book was quite long but there never was a definite end to the story, not even in the romance. Also it was quite weird for Reese to accept everything, I mean, she was always fighting with Dagan but she never actually questioned anything. She just went along. And I know the fury is supposed to be, well, a fury but was it really necessary for them to have sex almost 10 times every night? And for them to only stop having sex when they were being attacked? Really? Seems like 75% of this book are sex scenes. I would think just her presence/touch would be enough to atone some of the symptoms but nope...more sex and she was just fine with it. I wonder how his d*ck didn't fall off. Seriously.

Overall though it was interesting. I truly enjoyed this new world and these new characters. They were funny, sad, passionate, boring, stubborn, compassionate...you name it.

Very nicely done for a first instalment. The book has a great main story and the characters seem to be incredibly interesting. I'm only sorry it wasn't more developed, it seemed to end rather abruptly. The romance also seemed fast and sudden. I expected maybe a little more difficulty. The abrupt change between sceneries was also a little unsettling and somewhat disturbed the rhythm of the book. Very interesting and enjoyable though.

Review: The Devil Was an Angel

Damn. Another awesome book and now I have to wait a year for the next one. What can I say? This was brilliant as always. I simply love this story. Niki is one of my favourite characters and the more I know about her, Lucifer and Gage, the more I want to read about them. They are absolutely fascinating and the main plot is creative, fast-paced and incredibly exciting. I honestly thought this one was going to be hard for me after Sam's death. I thought this story simply wouldn't be able to recover from such a loss and I would end up giving up the whole thing. I'm now glad I didn't. Unlike other
readers, I'm not surprised by Niki's interest in Lucifer. For one, I love Lucifer. I'm always curious about books where authors dare to write about him. Second, I was crazy about Sam but I did wonder about a lot of things he said and did. I always had an impression that he didn't really showed his true colours to Niki. I was really sad to know how far he took things with her. Really messed up so I can't say I'm not rooting for Lucifer. He's crazy but nevertheless seems the more normal character we've had for awhile. They seem good together. Can't wait to learn more. Of course her new powers have to be mentioned as well...a mixture of bad-ass with messed up, I think. God. 2014 looks like a thousand years away. I want that book now!

I was quite psyched, yes pun intended, to find out who the killer was and how they were going to catch him but then the main characters relationship suddenly involved a leash, dog playing, whips and other objects. I found quite upsetting too that their relationship involved a lot of demeaning positions for Marsh and I don't mean just sexual ones. I started losing interest quite fast after the appearance of such gems, I gotta admit. I still feel somewhat interested to know what happens in the end about the murderer but I find I can't summon enough curiosity to actually suffer through the rest of the book.

I didn't exactly saw a point to the sex scene with Kasey. I know it was to draw out Rhone's jealousy and possessive streak but I'm sure it could've been done without that awkward moment. Worse, they had been doing it for over a year. Talk about weird. And unhealthy too. Anyway...ignoring that little misstep, this book was actually pretty funny and interesting. I really liked watching Rhone and Adam together. They made a great couple. I did found Rhone's sudden acceptance of a sexual relationship with Adam a little on the fast side but it was good to finally see them together romantically. Nice HEA.

The first short story is annoyingly romantic and sweet. Some action and drama pour some nice breeze to all the fiery passion but it's mostly all about hot, sweaty sex and life and death situations. Mushy ending with a HEA.

Another dramatic story about survival. More heavy and sombre. Interesting. Crazy lunatic bent on destruction. Cute couple in love willing to do anything for each other. Mushy ending with another HEA.

Overall it was deeply entertaining and well written.

Where was the innovation apart from the change in race? Oh and the main character in these books is always a bottom and only tops when he's in heat. Yeah. How new. At least no one ended pregnant!

I could have gone without the presence of BDSM in this book but apart from that it was somewhat enjoyable. I was a bit miffed with Theris's powers as Grim Reaper though. It was a bit disappointing...made him pretty weak in my opinion and I think it's the last thing someone wants to read about is a Grim Reaper as weak. The pregnancy thing was a let down as well. It's pretty much used everywhere nowadays and I always thought it's a cheap thing to do in a gay novel. It's always used as a fix to everything or to somehow claim the relationship as right with the miracle of a baby. I don't like it. Love is love and it doesn't need a rightness stamp.

I like this author. Her writing feels less forced and cramped regarding the previous novels. Her characters are also well written. They feel like real people instead of one-dimensional characters like others. Her men actually act like men. No crying or much angst involved. No overflowing drama. The plot was also interesting. The only thing that marred the book was the sudden double personality Misha got. I think it was great he developed a backbone but let's be real...no one would have a 180º just like that.

There is a lot I would change in terms of writing but this time the story and the characters almost actually eclipsed those errors. The vampires started a little over the top but turned out very cute and fun to read. Shea was my favourite though...how can you not like a four thousand alpha shifter who's practically indestructible?

I'm still laughing out loud about the idea of a lion mating a mouse but I can't say it didn't work. Gavin actually acted like an alpha male! I think it wasn't perfect...somehow the author still managed to make him full of angst and insecurities but he was the better written guy so far. He didn't cry, he didn't pout or whimpered much and he was assertive in his opinions and power. With this author that's all we can ask for. Ant managed to act like a mouse shifter without being annoying, dependent and obnoxiously clingy so I think this was actually a success character-wise. The writing still has a long way to go though. I still see a lot of trouble with formatting and grammar. The pace also needs to slow down. It would work better considering the development.

I still think these books have too much drama and what not but they are getting better. There's less crying (Thank God) and less angst. The characters actually try to act as adults instead of teenagers. The writing still leaves a lot to be desired though. The formatting is less than ideal and there are a lot of grammatical errors too. It also seems like the author introduces drama to shift the readers attention from that. It makes for an interesting plot but the execution is very poor. Trying to cram such a plot in a 90 page novel is kind of crazy and it's noticeable. It feels cramped and undeveloped.

The writing also needed a little more work. Somewhat entertaining but I still can't give more than two stars.

Can you get a little more dramatic please? I don't think I've had enough yet. After all it was just a little running away from home, jumping out of a moving truck, get threatened and almost stabbed. Everyday occurrences. Not to mention all the testosterone...it's not like they cried a lot or often. Just everyday. And the angst of it all. But they were only in their twenties so it wasn't that bad but then you add a two centuries old dragon who can't seem to stop acting like a screwed up kid with a lot of insecurities to the mix and it's just perfect. God. The trust issues. I get them, really. It's all very understandable but was it really necessary to screw up every other conversation? I'm starting to wonder if this author actually knows any men. Seriously. Gay men don't act like women with PMS.

So...a foursome and yes, they were still all emasculated. I thought Todd would be a little more alpha considering he was the last dragon of his race alive and the Sheriff but nope, still a damn p*ssy. Ironic calling p*ssy to a dragon but it's true. Really. The one who ended up showing some alpha tendencies was actually the smallest of them, Dylan. Again irony at its best. Todd ended up being even more emotionally dependent than Gabriel in the previous novel. I complain all the time about harsh alpha men but I'm starting to pray for them...This is just ridiculous. They cried their eyes out about 45% of the book. When they weren't crying they were fucking and that's the only reason why I ever gave a two star rating.

I read some of the reviews before reading this book and thought it couldn't be that bad. It was. The plot is somewhat interesting, the romance as well but the way the characters were written...Could you have, maybe, castrated these males even more? I don't think so. They were complete messes emotionally but hey that was acceptable but guys who cry all the time? When there isn't actually a strong reason for it? Who pretty much act like besotted and fragile females every single moment of the day? Even the dragon looked like a spineless emotional idiot most of the time. And the cherry on top? Let's give them babies. Yes. That's better!

I was given this book along other works from other authors in a free M/M bundle. Thank God I did not pay for this.

That's my main opinion.

The plot is reasonably interesting, the writing is good but Trina, the so-called best-friend, really put me off. She was overbearing, inexplicably jealous, whiny, highly explosive, high maintenance and not a very good friend really. Gavin also ended up pissing me off because he pretty much let her do anything she wanted without consequences. The woman ruled his life. No wonder she kept hoping he married her. They already had that type of relationship! Specially the no-sex part! I was kind of hoping for some type of wake-up call for Trina but was severely disappointed. She pretty much ended doing whatever she wanted to whoever she wanted. Nice.

A little bit creepy, dramatic and sad but every bit enjoyable. The characters didn't touch me much but they were likeable enough to warrant happiness so they did their job. Because this wasn't an open paranormal romance...I kind of felt uneasy with the ghosts visits. Seemed like it would have been better to have left that part out of the story and really just concentrate in the characters grief and struggle to to overcome it.

Can't say I was happy with all the distance between her and March but turning into a suicidal idiot surely won't help...boy will he be pissed when he realizes what she's done. If she survives that is. Moving on...I miss Vel. And Dina and Hit and Loras and even Hon but mostly Vel. I just love his character. He's never disappointed me and that's more than I can say for any other character, even Jax. Sometimes I think he's more human than any of them.

Wow. This book definitely rivals the first one of this series. It is beautifully written with an amazing focus on politics without disregarding the consequences of it all to our main characters. The plot is creative, rich and so complex. More amazing was how our Jax managed to navigate such a minefield and cultivate the alliance with the Bugs. I still can't believe Jael was the bad guy. Not much of a shock just a huge disappointment. Too bad a war is still coming.

I can see why some things had to be done. Why some decisions were made but I can't say I like some consequences. One can't help thinking...is it better now?
I still loved reading this book but the first is still better for me. Jax seems to be a lot more grown up in some parts and although I'm pretty proud of her, like some parent (hopefully not her mother 'cause that woman is seriously messed up!), this only makes it harder for when she's being idiotic. The whole situation with March for instance only makes me want her to be real so I can slap her 'till she grows a brain. Then again...I don't like him much. I understand he gets her like no one but...hey he reads her mind. Half the work is done. Plus he's creepy. Seriously.

One hell of a book. I was expecting some cheap science fiction novel with no start, middle or ending, just a jumble of made up facts that made absolutely no sense and explained nothing to the reader and was instead greeted with an awesome story with likeable characters. Not that Ann Aguirre isn't a great writer because she is but I just can't help some trepidation every time I start reading a sci-fi book. They almost always disappoint me and are a waste of my time but alas, I should've known better considering I've been reading Aguirre for quite some time now. She does not disappoint. I found myself laughing out loud or quaking in my boots (not that I'm wearing them now; it's summer) right alongside the main character. The pull of the story is so big and so well done I had a huge difficulty tearing myself from it to actually work today. The plot is gripping. The characters feel like real people. The writing is at a great level of mastery. Didn't blow my mind but it was close.

The romance though...I mean what romance? Where was it? Guy kidnaps girl, enters her mind, finds out her secrets, gets possessed and rapes girl. Girl gets pregnant, falls in love, gives birth and they marry. All in less than a week. Seriously? SERIOUSLY??

Two for the price of one. No, it's not another threesome. Fortunately or unfortunately, not sure... This time it's Chris turn to find his mate. A very cute petite Asian woman. A very much married one. But not all is bad news because there's something weird going on in that marriage and he sure wants to find out...only he finds more than he wanted or expected. Like a husband who suddenly turns into a brother. A brother who then seems to find a mate in Gina, Chris's cop cousin who then gets kidnapped by the guy the Asian siblings were running from. How much interesting can it get? Lots. Very fine writing indeed. Funny, sweet and dramatic.

Apart from the irritating parts about Mitchell's jealousy this book was awesome. Hot, sexy and toe-curling sex with a couple shots at violence (literally) this story really touched all the bases. The romance was incredible. Jag was truly amazing and my favourite. He was flirty, easygoing and more importantly, despite having a reputation for the ladies, he never once tried to stop his feelings for Francine. Mitchell, on the other hand, truly annoyed me most of the time. If it wasn't for the whole "love him since kindergarten thing" Francine had for him...I wouldn't have minded to see him leave. Glad everything worked out though because it really was important for Francine. Also loved the little tidbit about Jenny's karma. That one made my day.
