Definitely better than the first novel, more solid if you will. Rick actually turned out to be a great romantic prospect and Logan a good friend. Grateful also became a better main character with a backbone, self-respect and self-worth. She grew into her powers while dealing with some messed up feelings and situations and it showed when it was necessary to really kick ass and prove herself. I was, however, a little confused by the whole thing about the house. I mean, I understand its use considering the direction the plot needed to take but I can't really see a father sell a house behind his daughter's back out of the blue. It's just weird and doesn't really fall into the general behaviour of this character. Then again...he was dating a supe with less than half his age. Men are such suckers for pretty faces. Anyway it was enjoyable and interesting to read. Grateful actually made a pretty decent heroine and Rick's devotion blew me away. I did thought Grateful spent way too much time being bound though.

I wonder if there's another book. This ended with some loose ends but it wouldn't be a terrible finish if necessary. Hmm. I would read another one.

Review: The Ghost and the Graveyard

The premise didn't warrant much but I expected more anyway. The writing is good, the plot is interesting but the delivery fell somewhat short for me. I also felt deceived by both romantic prospects and ended up wishing Grateful was able to stand on her own two feet. In a way this romantic mismatch only added to the general confusing feeling of the situation and kind of took some of my enjoyment of everything. Having a heroine with no backbone or self-respect regarding men also helped form this opinion.

Very, very good. I loved everyone. Meg is a wonderful and interesting character and I was rooting for her all the time. I was so sorry Hurricane died and even that wolf that wanted to eat her, Fenrur or something. All the bad guys received exactly what they deserved and I can only hope her Controller will be found and eaten too. Can't wait for the next one. The writing is witty and captivating and the plot is totally worth following. Very well done.

I mostly read it for the sex scenes, I admit. Although I thought the idea behind the book somewhat interesting...I wasn't impressed with the execution. It felt pretty stuffy. Too complicated for this type of book or maybe I was just expecting something better. Either way..it's readable and even enjoyable but don't expect too much.

I usually tend to find short stories pretty much a waste of time considering I never quite understand the story or like the characters but this one was pretty powerful. It's pretty violent, sad and grimy but I couldn't stop hoping for a happy ending for Tal or for an actual novel for the full story. It was pretty captivating and addictive for a short.

Well I liked it a lot. I'm only sorry we never got to see much of Maddie and Werner's relationship before the end although, of course, I know they were perfect for each other. I'm also sorry for Nick. He was a class A *sshole 'till the damn end. Amazing the amount of time one spent thinking he was actually a good guy. Oh well. Honest mistake. He fooled us all well. Anyway...I'll miss them all. They were really good company while this series lasted. I'll miss the quirky personality of all Mystic residents specially Maddie and Eve. Oh and Werner, my hunkalicious dream man. Such a good one. Never even batted an eyelash when he found out about Maddie's gift. Can I have one to go too please?

Here I was silently cheering Maddie on about Werner while they traded some kisses and dances and then she goes and ends up with Nick again. Seriously? I mean, I like him a lot but he only seems to remember her when he wants sex between FBI assignments while Werner seems to always be there for her when she needs him. Literally. One call away and he's there. The man even took vacation time to follow her to NY for protection. Nick visited 3 times in seven years. I say it again, seriously? Also Maddie only seems to remember 3/4 characteristics about Nick: Italian hunk, hot, steamy and/or mouthwatering. Why? Oh wait...I know. Because they know each other since high school but they don't really know each other perhaps? In the mean time...Werner went from frenemy to seriously hot detective ready to either grab her hair while she pukes, help her solve a crime or kiss her 'till she can't breathe. Yes. Difficult choice.

Finally a kiss between Werner and Maddie. Yay. I waited three whole books for this...God. The tension. The anxiety. Anyway it happened and I loved it. Very well done. Now I'm just waiting for Nick to get a kick in the ass and see Maddie get consoled by Werner with a very hot kiss. And a hug. And a cuddle. And another kiss and..you know where I'm going, don't you?

Review: A Veiled Deception

I particularly liked the final touch. It was...well...touching. But the rest wasn't bad either. The characters feel very real and interesting and, although I don't quite understand why anyone would leave NY for a small town life, I do find the plot creative, intriguing and amusing enough for me to continue the story. I'm specially curious to learn more about Dante (the ghost) and Maddie's new shop. Surprisingly enough I'm not very curious about Nick or their relationship. I do like Werner. Now that would be a surprise. I'd like to see it for sure. Maybe soon. I'll keep reading for that one.

Not as good as the others in the series. There's less action and the only really exciting thing was right at the end with her possession and consequent Ty love. And although I like Ty very very much...I mean the guy is a consummate alpha male without the *sshole part, so what's not to like, right? I also like Remy a whole lot. I just wished she'd have let him kiss her at least once. I'm curious to know if they would work out if Ty wasn't in the picture. 'Cause let's face it...he only is when he feels like it. I think she got way too obsessed way too fast for it to be all that and a bag of chips.

Hmm...I really liked this one with Lil running around fleeing the police. Totally showed a different side from her, a more serious one without shoes or purses involved. Also managed to get us a more thorough glimpse of Ty. Did I mention Remy who ended up saving the day too? Yeah. Oh and the werewolves? So funny and creative. Twenty-eight men. A full moon. Twenty eight pregnant women. How cool is that? And all of them ending up in labour at the same time? Oh wolf.

Review: Dead End Dating

I can't say I'd ever read a sort of Sex and The City vampire novel but hey there's a fist time for everything and boy, was I surprised and pleased. Lil is a wonderful main character, she's a vampire which automatically gives her all sorts of cool powers and a fashion addict which automatically gives her a huge advantage to other vamps too from my point of view. I think both the bad ass and the girlie parts of me have finally reached an agreement (was that weird or what?). Can't say Ty wasn't a good man candy either! Anyway I enjoyed this very much. The writing flows really well and is completely captivating. I read this in 2/3 hours 'cause I just couldn't drop it and the plot is so very interesting. I'm completely curious to find out more about well...everything and everyone actually.

Honestly I don't know what to think exactly about his book. Jayné seems pretty immature for me to really connect with and I'm also not particularly impressed by her jump in the sack with Aubrey. I kinda like Ex a lot though. And Jake. Even the vampire. But I do have a big problem trying to understand all the other crap going on. I spent most of the time feeling overwhelmed and unimpressed actually. The plot seems to wound around too many times for an introduction to that world. It's way too complex, complicated and just plain impossible to follow properly or enjoyably. It did make me curious enough to pick the next one though. I liked Ex too much to abandon him.

Way funnier than I thought it would be. Very light and witty for a vampire romance. Also loved being introduced to Jessica. She dealt with everything with surprising aplomb considering she was terrified out of her mind...Cue hunk of burning love soul mate and she became one happy vampire. I think I'm even going to keep reading this series. Can't say I'm not curious about the other characters that's for sure, although I admit I'm sorry to see Jessica and Patrick go. They were so cute together and we never really got to see them in a proper relationship.

I found this surprisingly funny and witty. You kind of expect a vampire novel to always be somewhat dark and bloody but this was pretty bubbly considering the genre. The most poignant cliché was, of course, the tortured vampire hunk who thinks he's a cursed murderer but is really just a cute fluffy man in love with the heroine. That part is pretty nauseous if you ask me but, alas, he's a nerd so that compensates just a little. Oh and he was a monk too. A 500 hundred year monk. Yes, that's right. He only lost his virginity with the heroine. I almost gagged at that sweetness! But I had fun. I mean some things were so ridiculous one just can't help laugh out loud. Oh and I have to admit I'll miss Ivan. His death broke my heart. They just don't make good villains anymore. I was expecting him to be terrifying enough to encourage loyalty out of his followers and instead he gets betrayed and killed by his women. Och. RIP Petrovsky.

Review: The Devil's Wife

1st: One does not simply write an entire book in the fist person without some serious mojo and even then, it's a 50/50 chance of the reader liking it that way. I didn't like it.

2nd: The use of the character's full names to identify the speaker. Confusing. Using Clarissa Avario, Jasynda something and Avasten Grigori just made me stop in the middle of things numerous times to try to remember who they were. Not to mention the lack of any identifiers in the pattern of writing. They all spoke alike to me.

3rd: The plot. What the...? I can't say this book was bad per se but it sure was weird. Like really really weird. The plot gets so incredibly unrealistic, yes even considering this was fantasy, that it stops making sense. In the end, Lucifer kills God, becomes God himself and asks his girlfriend to marry him. Like, what? I've read some pretty crazy sh*t, trust me, but nothing has ever left me so confused and disgruntled as this one. And I'm partial to Lucifer as one of the good guys. Always have been. But this beats the punch. And you have violence, rape and kidnappings thrown around and talked about as if it were everyday occurrences...That's just messed up. "Oh I was just raped and beaten but please come here hug me and have sex with me please" and "Oh don't worry..I'm used to being kidnapped and raped" Seriously? Seriously??

I liked the story and even the way it was written. I didn't like finding so many grammar mistakes..I'm thinking my version was the first to be published and nobody deigned to check the writing before because it was excruciating trying to understand anything underneath all those spelling mistakes, lack of punctuation and other editing stuff. It really shouldn't have been published like this. Took me a lot of energy trying to piece stuff together. Also sex violent enough to destroy furniture? Yeah...I know they're both kind of all powerful but still...it's a bit distressing just thinking about it. A bit of info before dumping me in the action would have been nice too.

I probably didn't learn a single thing with this book but who cares? It was scorchingly hot and all I hoped it would be when I picked it up. Don't expect much depth or a unique plot, although there is some of that too, but something witty, funny, dramatic and sexy as Hell. I absolutely loved it. I'm also partial of Loki so this was right up my alley even though he plays such a small part one barely notices him.

Seriously? You end up with him in jail for something he didn't do? I mean, I know he deserved to be in jail for all the things he certainly did do over the centuries without being caught but really? The least it could happen then would be to fast-forward to when he's released and they get together again, not some weird *ss scene of them kissing with him in his true form. Pretty flat if you ask me. After all the info dump we constantly had to deal with throughout the book we really should have had a more action filled ending. Something better for sure. It was entertaining though. I did like it enough to read it 'till the end.

I'm torn between awe and irritation. Seriously. I don't know which is more prominent right now. Awe because this was a hell of a book with so much action, drama and such pain and irritation because Evy got tortured again. How many times is this going to happen? 'Cause I'm not much into meaningless gore and that's exactly what this felt like. I think one torture scene per series is more than enough. Specially considering the author combined torture and rape the first time around, no need whatsoever to write a second scene for sure. And I have no problem admitting that's why I took one star from my rating of this book because otherwise it was pretty much awesome. I'm still reeling from everything and very anxious to find out more.

Now that the awkward start from the first book is done with...the story really picked up and is no longer so hard to follow. The complexity is still there but now the characters and their actions are easier to understand and make this book much better than the previous. The creativity is still the main focus for me though because this plot is so new and veers to completely uncharted territory. There's new names and new societies to look forward to knowing regarding some old legends like vampires and weres but also new concepts regarding gremlins, goblins and others normally ignored in novels. I do find myself thoroughly enjoying this series. It's very captivating, dramatic and even often funny.

Although extremely creative, interesting and captivating, this was a slow and somewhat hard read. The plot is very good but the complexity of it kind of made it difficult to read smoothly. It forces us to take some time to comprehend the concept, the characters and their actions making it a slow endeavour and then again, very worth it. Also it's very intriguing to have a main character reanimated in someone else's body. Creates numerous funny situations as well as dangerous. Look forward to read more.
