Review: Demon Forged

Demon Forged
Demon Forged by Meljean Brook

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I actually liked it. Now I'm sorry I didn't start this series from the beginning as I should have. That's what I get from being lazy! But I'm not going back now. I'll continue to read from this book on and after reading the rest of the series I'll go back and do it right.

Moving on...

Fast-paced, exciting and oh so hot! There are some sex scenes...but unlike other romances I've read recently these scenes didn't seem planted just to spike the readers interest. They actually played a part in the story and were very well written. And the build-up for the actual sex was so exciting and frustrating at the same time! Despite all this the story wasn't compromised in any way. It flowed wonderfully and made the reader both anxious for the sex and the fights.

I loved how the couple continued to fight even after being together. Some stories make things look so perfect that it's kinda annoying. Not the case! They are both strong-willed from day one and continue so throughout the whole book. They promise to simply listen to each other and that seems to work for them even when they don't agree with each other. Which is like...always.

The secondary story or main one (I never know) was also very well lined with their love story. The author managed to focus on both without detriment of either. Very few accomplish it so well.

Review: Lucinda, Dangerously

Lucinda, Dangerously
Lucinda, Dangerously by Sunny

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I liked this book but felt it was somewhat lacking in the end. I'm not even pissed about Merlin's easy death. While Derek was unable to kill him I understand how she did it. After all, every guy lowers their defences when having sex. I wasn't even perturbed by this "rape" scene. I don't know if I had been able to actually do it myself but I can see her logic. And you can see later that despite having been a concious decision on her part how it actually affected her later. I don't find any of this strange or anything. But I still can't stop this feeling of unwholesomeness. A big word I know!
I don't know exactly why this happened especially considering the author actually tied all her "loose ends"...Talon´s mother showed up. Lucinda is safe and also able to bask (one of the things she missed since dying). Her father is better. Ruric helped Mary. Hari is safe and bonded with Sarai. Stefan and Jonnie are well. Nico too. I really don't know where this feeling comes from but it's here nonetheless hence my 3 star rating. Maybe I'm being harsh. Don't know. Worth reading anyway even if it's just to finish this story.

Review: Lucinda, Darkly

Lucinda, Darkly
Lucinda, Darkly by Sunny

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I came to this book thinking it was a dark fantasy or something along those lines and it is but it's also erotic. I don't usually like this mixed genre. I prefer either a dark fantasy or an erotic novel. I like to know exactly what I'm about to read. But it was still an interesting read. It's fast-paced and somewhat light. There are fights and death but there is also romance. It's a nice read. Kept me happy and that's the whole point of a book right?

Review: Eona

Eona
Eona by Alison Goodman

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow. That's only what I can think right now. Wow. Okay. So. Like Eona, I also thought Lord Ido had changed. I mean...when in captivity the guy had a brief moment of lucidity and power and instead of breaking free he actually felt her in trouble trying to control the bereft dragons and helped. And although a complete idiot sometimes he was also funny and seemed to like her. Apparently he only liked her power or the promise of more power. Still I was surprised by his betrayal. I did not see him killing Emperor Kygo. I guess he had what he deserved ultimately. One second of being a god and then death for not being strong enough to contain all the power. He's worst nightmare. Fortunately after the renewal of the dragon's power the Mirror Dragon recognized Eona and thanked her sacrifice by saving Kygo and healing her wounds. I couldn't have imagined a better end for the battle. However I feel like one more chapter could have been written making a more whole ending. Maybe it's just my wish to learn more about what happened between Kygo and Eona. What her role was going to be now that she no longer had a dragon's power. I don't think it was very clear. I don't see her being an empress if Kygo was supposed to have an harem. She also stated early on that she would never be a concubine. Well. I guess that's never going to get answered! Despite my little criticism about the end I do not find it enough to give this book less than 5*. It is definitely a must read!

Review: Eon: Dragoneye Reborn

Eon: Dragoneye Reborn
Eon: Dragoneye Reborn by Alison Goodman

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Loved it and am very anxious to start reading the other one. Not usually my cup of tea but I was surprisingly happy with this book. Started it yesterday afternoon and continued throughout the entire night. Finished at 6am when I had to get up at 9am. Not very smart on my part but I was hooked. I simply could not put it down and go to sleep. I regretted that soon as my alarm clock ringed this morning but it was done already. Anyway where was I? Oh right. Loved it! Gotta go read Eona!
