So much better than the first instalment! It was funny, entertaining and sometimes dramatic and deep. Definitely interesting! I'm anxious to read the final one. I'm specially curious about Meghan's father and Cade's past. Seems like something urgent always happens every time they try to talk about things. I was actually surprised learning about Cade's parentage. I thought he was related to the Wild Hunt due to his white dog with rusted ears. I miss that part of the lore..I always love The Hunt! It's my favourite part about Faerie.

Review: The Wish

I read some of the reviews talking about the poor writing but I decided to read it anyway and I gotta say I'm not entirely sorry. The writing is indeed excruciating! The author writes only slightly better than a 3 year old child. It's too fast-paced to actually develop a sensible plot and it feels way too rushed. It's actually a shame because it has so much potential! The idea behind it is wonderful, smart and really interesting and it's pretty much the only reason why I endured all the wrong past tenses and other mistakes. They are, oh so many! But if you are somehow able to ignore all that...the idea is really great. This book really needs a serious revision! Also it wouldn't hurt to slow things down more. It would be better to have split the story for two books and had the details more developed.

Review: Faelorehn

Typical YA fantasy novel: an insecure teenage girl, her group of outcast friends and a hot older guy who becomes interested in her. Add some faeries and otherworldly creatures and it's ready for consumption!

I don't know if it's just me lately but I wasn't impressed. It's somewhat funny to watch the main character, Meghan, flail around but apart from that...

I mean, the lore is interesting but not very well explained. I've read a lot about Celtic and Irish folklore and I love books about The Hunt, the Light and Dark Fey but I gotta say it took me awhile to realize who the guy was and I still have my doubts! Apart from finding out she's fey...I didn't learn anything else worth mentioning. It lacks something for a first book. I expected better explanations amid the craziness of being a weird teen. It's addictive though! I gotta recognize that. I read it in less than 5 hours! I am curious to see how this turns out...but it's mostly because I want to read about Cade's identity and be proven right and not because of Meghan's fate.

Review: Sinner

Sinner by Char Marie Adles

Yeah I was right..I don't like the main character very much but she is definitely interesting. I gotta say I was very entertained. It's a new concept. Not the usual anti-hero thing most novels have..it's more like she's mostly evil with streaks of goodness. She seems to never hurt her friends but one does know it's purely by chance. When she's in a rage she isn't able to
discern friend from foe. I can't believe she ate Night! Okay I actually laughed at that but only because she spit him out immediately!
Anyway it was fun, terrifying and one of a kid novel. I can't wait to read more!

Review: Magic to the Bone

Magic to the Bone by Devon Monk

My actual rating is 2.5

Why? It's 50/50.

I liked the plot. The main character is likeable. She's smart, funny and tough. I like that she's different from other magic users and I definitely like the fact that she doesn't let herself be manipulated by anyone, not even family. She also seems lonely but I guess that comes with the territory.

What I don't like however kind of shadows what I do like. I don't like all the secrecy. I understand why it's there but I find it extremely hard to believe a secret society exists. No, I'm not kidding...Let me explain. I believe it can exist but not in that specific situation. It was talked that it existed for centuries if not thousands of years and they knew for a long time about magic while everyone else only learned about it 30 years ago...Ok. I understand it's quite simple to be secretive about something other people have no idea about but they managed to continue this after magic was discovered? Even though they kept trying to interfere? In 30 years not a single soul found out and told the public? Really hard to swallow! Human nature kind of dictates this...There is always someone who finds out and talks about it. Unless of course someone decides the secret is worth killing. In that case...this secret society is not very life friendly is it? I'm confused and I wouldn't be if it was better explained.

Same thing about her father. He was obnoxious to her. Made her life hell and all that. We never got to see more than Allie's point of view.

And the magic thing? I'm sorry but I don't see the point. I would understand it's constant use if there were not many side effects but permanent memory loss? Physical pain? Naaahh. I think I would be Nola in this book. I understand balance not punishment and this seems more like punishment.

I will be continuing this series but only because I'm curious about Zayvion. I'm actually afraid the main character will either end up dead, in a coma (again!)or permanently disabled.

Review: Keegan's Chronicles Trilogy Set

Keegan's Chronicles Trilogy Set by Julia Crane

So the premise starts with a couple of teenage elves who are chosen mates that shortly after meeting get separated by dark magic. It talks about a war between light and dark.

What did I thought? Wow. Must be cool. No insta-love and there's a war going!

And then I read book one. What do I get? Insta-love and insta-war! Now you're thinking: WTH, right?

So...After some close calls, they meet. Insta-love. Okay so Keegan and Rourk are chosen mates from birth. I guess I can live with that! They never fight. Everything is perfect.

Then comes the war...She dies and a friend's mother, who's a witch, brings her back to life through dark magic unintentionally severing their chosen bond. The horror!

In between death and life, Keegan sees a tiger. When she wakes up she not only doesn't remember Rourk but also can't stop thinking about her shifter friend Donald.

The war is over. Her brother lied and managed to end it all. The battle was bloody and lasted two days but it was not epic or anything. Quite disappointing if you ask me.

The other two books are simply not that eventful. Rourk can't bare the pain of seeing her with the shifter and leaves. She stays with the shifter for a year. Anna (one of her best friends) and her brother decide to intervene and help bring back the chosen bond. In her eighteen birthday Rourk shows up with his mother's engagement ring(which has a compulsion spell done by Anna). When Keegan tries it the bond returns. Donald gets dumped and goes on a destruction spiral. They all help him. Keegan and Rourk marry a couple months later.

The End.

PS: Now you're thinking again: WTH? But yes, this is it! I kept hoping another war or something would come but nothing did. It's just obnoxious teenager behaviour for the other two books! It was entertaining but seriously not that good.

Review: Ordained

I am astonished by this book. I'm serious. I had never read anything by this author, hell, I hadn't even heard of her or her books but I am so very happy to have read it! The writing is very straightforward and honest. The author manages to wrap the story in mystery while keeping things simple and easy for the reader to follow.
The main character is an enigma although you find from the beginning of the story about her abused childhood. The secondary characters are relatable and likeable. The enemies are hateful but also sad and pitiful. The story in itself is interesting but wouldn't have kept me so hooked in if the writing didn't complemented it so well. It's a very good début novel and I, personally, can't wait to continue this adventure.

Review: Sweet Shadows

Sweet Shadows by Tera Lynn Childs

I'm starting this review by saying this book ends in a major cliffhanger. If, like me, you hate cliffhangers...well. Too bad.

This story flows fast and I mean really fast! It's new and interesting. Smart and inventive. I like it a lot. I'm bypassing the mistakes that surely exist here and I'll most likely see after some time because they don't really stand out when the story pulls you so thoroughly like this one has.

I keep thinking though that the boys are suspicious: Milo, Nick and Thane. Milo just seems too perfect. Nick just showed he's not reliable. And Thane? Hell. He screams duplicity. Can't believe it will take so long for the next book!
