Mostly good but also kind of boring. Definitely not enough action for me. I wanted things to be a little more exciting and frantic. I kept expecting the bad guys to kidnap Nathan or something to that effect and it never happened so I was disappointed, I guess. The other shoe just never dropped so this felt more like half of a story really. Even the "chase" scenes were lame.

I've been an avid reader of this series from the start. Secret has had her moments of utter stupidity but mostly she's been an amazingly bad-ass main character totally worth following. So, why this, you ask? I read a couple reviews and could see this train-wreck coming from a mile away and decided to get the fudge out before it was too late. I just know I'd be so damn depressed with the ending in this series. Secret's humanity obsession was always her biggest weakness for me. Girl, you're half vamp and half were and you want to be human? Live a normal life? I don't get it. I also didn't get her romantic choice in the last book. Apparently it gets worse and...yeah. Train-wreck. Getting off.

Liked the overall story but got bored out of my mind with the fancy words and the romance. I'm not very picky with said romances, which means a lot, so you have to know how "bad" it was that I'm complaining. I mean, I expect basic things out of my romances. Respect, kindness...not trying to kill each other. Twice. Him mostly trying to kill her really. Not much, right? You'd think so but apparently, if the guy gives you some pretty verses in the form of a rather deploring request for forgiveness afterwards, all is indeed forgiven. I really did not get that so it was amazingly frustrating for me. Add a lot of "o thy sweetness" or something along those lines every couple paragraphs and I was kind of out of my element. Darn. Now I remember why I shy away from high fantasy (not that this is classified as HF anywhere). Hindsight is b*tch. The story was engaging though. I pretty much love everything to do with dragons and dainty princesses who turn into awesome dragons is even better. I am, however, unsure if I want to read the sequel. I'd like to know how it ends but the prose is really something I'm not looking forward to.

Avalon? Really? The other world leaps weren't enough? Guh. I liked the romance. Both the romances actually. I specially liked how both Kat and Jacky told their guys the truth pretty fast and weren't really all angsty throughout the book. But the final battle kinda took its toll on me. 1st I really liked the Princess's family (less than a paragraph and I was rooting for them); 2nd All those deaths in the final battle, while normal in a war, were really off putting for me; And 3rd Kat's betrayal of the Trojans was really just sad. Agamemnon was a d*ck and totally deserved to lose. The Trojan King certainly seemed more nice so..."letting" everything kinda run its course and the Greeks winning, well... self-serving was definitely the word that applies and I expected better. If you're re-imagining something why not go all the way? Why just stick to the romance part and ignore everything else? And after all is said and done. Bam! Avalon. Yeah. That made sense. Alas, could have been worse I guess.

The ending of this one was a little depressing. I know it was supposed to be all about starting anew and love conquering everything, even death, but I was still depressed about it. Damn. I kinda liked Pamela, the way she was and how she wasn't willing to leave her job and her family for Apollo and Olympus. So the whole dying thing was incredibly unsatisfying for me. I mean, I'd be pissed with him even if he wasn't ultimately responsible for it. So, the easy acceptance? Hard to relate. Not bad though. Just different and a little disappointing.

Nailed it. Well done. Bravo. I loved it. I am not usually a fan of the myth of Persephone and Hades. Always thought it's one of the most idiotic tales and I prefer to stay well clear from anything even remotely related with it. However, I am a huge fan of Hades. That's right. I hate the myth but not the God of the Underworld. So this? My expectations were not very high. I was pleasantly surprised though. But really, Batman? No. Just, no. Way too many references to Batman and capes. Seriously, Batman is not that cute. Or bats for that matter. Anyway, as I was saying...I loved Hades and Lina. How she was Persephone and not. Nice twist.

Ohhh. I loved it. Very well done. Still doesn't surpass Calypso and Hades for me but it comes a close second nonetheless. I adored Baba Yaga. Damn. Freyr wasn't bad either. I certainly wouldn't mind having him for myself. The whole crone thing was a little weird for me though. Imagining them have sex then was more than a little off-putting but, alas, I persevered. And managed not to throw up in the process. Kudos for me bitches. I do find myself now incredibly curious about what Baba did to the Fairy Queen. Pretty please tell me that gets explained soon..Anyway, I can't wait for the next. Nicely done.

Not bad. I actually enjoyed this a lot. I wasn't much of a fan of Luminesa though. I had a really hard time relating to her and her situation. Her passionate nature was definitely more complicated for me to spot or maybe the problem was mine to start with. I don't know. I do admit I automatically compare every other queen with Calypso and, so far, Calypso has always come out ahead so maybe that's it. Either way, it wasn't bad. A centaur as a romantic interest was certainly a nice change and I liked him a lot. The kids were, well...not bad, per se, but mostly just a distraction just like The Goblin intended. I kept thinking: Well that's nice but how about you all work harder in finding the key? So yeah. I was a little miffed they didn't get there until the last possible moment and pretty much played into The Goblin's plan. So..Calypso. That woman did not wait for things to play out, she made them happen. She literally put Olympus at her feet. That's how it's done. Also the pining for five years? I get it but...Dude. Not for me.

I find myself not as enchanted with Bitten Point as I was with other places. While Kodiak Point exuded warmth and unity no matter the story, Bitten Point gave me the impression of coldness and disregard. More like a coincidence shifters lived there together. No close-knit community here. Maybe because there was no pack? But that doesn't really make sense either because bears have no pack either. I don't really know. Maybe because we were talking about cold-blooded shifters? The fact is that I didn't feel it this time and so my enjoyment suffered a little. I also couldn't connect much with Caleb. That being said...I didn't connect with Renny either. Everything kinda passed me by this time around. Even the overreaching arc felt...boring. The only character I'm actually curious about is Wes and that's not happening anytime soon so...yeah. Bummer. This was not for me.

I sure as hell resented them 'cause I wanted to find out more about the a*hole attacking her and all they seemed to care about was more sex. A balance would've been nice. I mean, a couple pages from the end and they barely have an idea of who is attacking her but, by all means, anal sex. Anal sex fixes everything. And then..then it was such a f*cked ending I'm not even commenting because I have nothing nice to say. At all.

I know. Starting in the middle of a series again. Or so it seems even tho this is supposedly the first volume. Apparently there is a series or a book somewhere about the Ujal. I have not read said book or series and have no idea what actually happened there, however, there's so much info floating around this book, I don't feel like I missed much. Either way, I'm not concerned. This story was good and entertaining and I liked both my MCs. Jarek's attitude was way too possessive for me at first but I guess the Knowing (weird alien memory thing that happens when you meet your fated mate) was mostly responsible for that. After finding out what would happen if they didn't mate (namely madness and death)...yeah. I get it. Not to say I particularly liked that clichéd way of assuring they got it on in mere days of meeting each other but okay, I rolled with it and it wasn't so bad. I certainly ended up cheering for them anyway.

Review: The Dark Path

After entering Nick's mind in Ricochet, The Dark Man/Vain was an enormous let down from the get go.

Just in the first few pages:

"The force of his emotions shook him to his very foundations".
Does this look like a contracted killer to you? Someone cold?

And a couple lines later:

"Voices shot like arrows through Vain's memory...The assassin crumpled into oblivion." - meaning he fainted. Fainted! From his memories! Seriously? I present to you the most feared man in New York's underworld ladies and gentlemen.

So...yeah. Me and this book? Not happening.

Maybe if I'd read this before meeting Nick? I don't know. But this definitely does not sound as something I'll enjoy in the long run so I'm backing out now. For me a good assassin has to be cold-blooded. Unfeeling. Callous. Frightening. This Vain Guy? Everyone seems to be afraid of him in the book but I honestly do not get it.

**Not rating this book since I only read about 4/5 chapters.

DNF´ed at 15% so I'm not even going to rate it-not exactly fair-but I gotta say I wasn't impressed. The little I read was, for lack of a better word, disappointing. I didn't like the writing style. The world-building was none-existent (you get dropped literally in the middle of a scene and get no clues to help you) and the main character, Thea, simply couldn't make me care for her or her situation. Perhaps it would get better along the way, however, the story does not pull at me. I am not even a little bit curious about what happens. I'm just glad I didn't pay for it.

F*ck. This book was pain. All the dark hidden things in that shadowy corner of your soul. You know the one. The one you ignore all your life and pretend not to have. Where nightmares tread. Where hope is that b*tch taunting you from afar and you can't reach her no matter how hard you try.

Nick is not your typical hero. What was done to his family will honestly haunt me for a while and give me some very bad dreams because it was done to his beautiful family, his gorgeous and innocent son and his lovable wife. Not out of revenge or retribution but simply because it could be done and there was no one to stop them. I hated it. And you'd think I'd have some semblance of pity for the guys he kills and tortures throughout this book but I really don't. There are things in this world I can forgive. This was not one of them and I was completely on board with Nick in his revenge. I cheered for him. The depth of his callousness regarding those people was frightening and left me cold but they also deserved it so badly I simply couldn't fault Nick one bit. I felt his pain. His anguish. His promise.

Aubree was kind of a loose cannon destroying all of Nick's carefully laid plans. She's easy to love and understand. Her past is almost as black as Nick's and they clash beautifully. The ragged pieces of their souls complete each other. I loved it. How raw and vulnerable they were together. How intense. How chaos suddenly made sense in each others presence. It was good.

A couple chapters from the end though...the pace changed and I didn't much care for it. Aubree's sudden proficiency with a gun came out of nowhere and her actions at the end weren't really believable. It was hard to mesh that woman with the one tortured by Michael for 5 years. However, this does not ruin this novel in any way. Everything else was perfect. Highly recommended.

I liked it but the addiction of more men is kind of pissing me off. More men mean more sex and more sex, while normally I'm all up for it, means distraction from the main arc and that's what actually pulled me to this series in the first place. Sex is meant as a bonus feature and not the focus and I want that back. Badly. So, while I liked Tristan well enough, I don't want to see them have sex all the damn time. I want development and bad guys and blood and gore. I want to see Muriel kick ass and kill things. There's only so much you can do in a menage sex scene until it all bleeds together and just becomes annoying and repetitive. This book came very close. Also, while I wondered how Muriel came to meet her new beau when I read Hell's Kitty (she shows up at the end), I didn't exactly expect to go so far back in the story arc in order to find out. I expected to be shown how they were all doing post engagement party and Ursula. How Muriel was dealing with Lucifer 2.0. How Hell was doing with Muriel in charge. Unfortunately, that's not what I got. Most of the book was lost meeting Tristan, having sex and...all before Lucifer's curse thingy. So basically this was just a new perspective of what I'd already read. So...I'm kind of bummed about it. Still reading the next but yeah. Not the same.

Too much plot for such a little book. Readable of course or I wouldn't have kept going but severely depleted when it comes to development. The main characters are pretty one-dimensional when they start and nothing much changes throughout the story. The sexual chemistry is all they really have together and I'm not entirely convinced of that either because I certainly didn't feel it while I was reading this. I also wasn't impressed by the way Olivia "solved" Jaxson's curse problem. Highly theatrical and little substance to it all. In fact, I wasn't impressed by anything really. I find myself a little curious about what the other brothers are hiding but even that is not enough to lure me back to this series. Not happening.

Hum...Not as good as Sylvie and Gator but close enough. Romantically speaking I'd give it only a 3 star rating, however, the final battle upped the rating a little bit. And I'm glad Louis had his time to shine. He was always so quiet and calm and I liked seeing this new side of him. It was exciting and new. Gray, I liked her, but her wariness was a little tiring for me. Also the sex. You'd think I'd be more than happy with the sex but there is such a thing as too much sex. Really. There is. I'm serious. Some more development would've been nice. But it was good anyway and I liked them all and can't help but forgive. Nicely done.

Me and my habit of starting a series in the middle is gonna come back and bite me in the *ss someday but not yet. The world was new to me, of course, so a little strangeness was expected as well as some confusion but apart from that I was able to follow easily enough. Purists want to kill all hybrids and Roake, our MC, was captured over a year ago and is on his last leg. He manages to escape, barely, and ends up helped by his mate, Emma. In my opinion, the whole mates thing happened way too fast and kinda knocked me for a loop there. In this world, the shifters recognize their mates instantly and have the instinct to mark and mate just hours after the initial meeting. As someone who is pretty adverse to the idea of destined mates and "we can't help ourselves"...this was way too close for comfort. Give me a hard won relationship anytime. This? Way too easy and clichéd. However, it was enjoyable, fun and sexy times are always welcome so I liked it.

How did this shifter let himself get attacked twice and later kidnapped without even noticing anything beforehand? He never even fought. Not really. He just...let himself get knocked out and then waited for rescue. WTH. The most ridiculous lion shifter I've read about. Totally a mood killer. I didn't need an alpha shifter getting all overprotective and overbearing but a little side of b*lls would've been nice. Someone who actually carried his weight, you know. Wow.

Very good. Don't know if it's a good ending to this series tho as I haven't followed it from the start and this book was indeed the only one I've read. I did like the story. Travis was a joy to read (if you ignore almost all of the Rawrs he has going) and, while I found Jess a little annoying at first, she did grew on me. Her husband really was an ass and totally deserved what he got. I still can't really understand the whole mate for life she had going on. You'd think his attitude would have more weight than something like tradition but okay, I guess. Travis mother freaked me out a little tho. I would not want her as my mother in law *shudder* but love conquers all and all that. Everything else kinda went over my head so I can't really comment but, overall, it was enjoyable and entertaining. Lots of action and sex. Ha. Whats not to like?

I really, really liked it. The sex scenes were a little weird but I gotta say I wasn't even paying that much attention to them. And by weird I don't mean kinky or anything, more like weirdly described and timed. I did enjoy it tho. Lilith and Avion seemed like a good couple and I was rooting for them. Now, I am a little curious as to how the new enemy is going to be dealt with but that seems like it's going to be a part of another series so I'll have to wait. So this...was a good ending. Kind of an open one but with enough closure to satisfy for now.
