I finally found a couple hours and finished this. Hard thing to do with all the crazy work but, alas, it was done and I'm not disappointed. That's not to say I was incredibly satisfied either. The time shifts in the book were sparse but nonetheless annoying and I was not a fan. I started the book assuming it was a modern story picking up after Alex and Matt separated those six years and, while I expected some remembrance about it, I certainly didn't expect half the book being just that. Personally I would've liked it better if the struggle to become reacquainted and fall in love again was shown instead of their "perfect past". Besides, it ended up all too easy and I'm not a fan of easy either. I do see the potential but, for me, it feel short.

Simple but very entertaining and enjoyable. There's a lack of world-building, characterization and plot but it was light-hearted, funny and worth reading if you just want some mindless fun like I did. Overall, if you expect deep feelings you're barking at the wrong tree but it is good fun.

Review: Bloodlust

Different but not much and not in a good way. Cade was pretty assholeish in the beginning and never got better and Jax, while his tragic past was supposed to make me feel sorry and empathize with him, I never really liked him either. He was just a kid no matter what he said. He acted like one and after a while he just irritated the hell out of me. Cade...well Cade, Marco and Zack all acted like bossy possessive jerks all mindful to remind their own mates how inferior they were all the time. Considering their attitudes...I really wonder what Nicky, Gabe and Jax saw in them. I sure as hell didn't see anything worth keeping around. Overall? I was more upset than exactly happy with this story. Just. Meh.

Review: Bayou Dreams

I would call this just another m/m shifter novel if this didn't have such a rich and detailed background. The characters are also complex and more alive than usual and made this story more enjoyable and entertaining. That being said, it is still deeply based in clichés and pretty predictable. The plot was linear and simplistic and I was never surprised which was a big disappointment. Romantically, while I did like both men, I wasn't all that keen on them as a couple. There was a lot of talk of lust, need and love but I didn't feel it. None of it. For Scott I can honestly say most of it was just a bad case of weirdness, horniness and confusion. I don't think he ever really settled the issue of his mate being a man and not a woman. He seemed resigned to it and seemed to feel protective of Ted but only because he was his mate and not because he actually liked/loved him as a lover. Mostly...he just accepted things. Pretty passive for an alpha if you ask me.

Yeah, I liked it. A bit disappointed though for it being so neat and proper. I expected more blood and gore in a book with an assassin and an omega who's not afraid of killing. It was just...simple and peaceful. BORING. I mean, I've read worse but, considering we have a shifter assassin in a wolf pack as a main character, it was depressing and passive. Not a good thing.

Not to be picky but I can't see how they worked everything out when one of them was passed out. When Broden was kidnapped he was thinking his mate was a helpless human even if he knew he shouldn't have said it and after he was rescued he never even apologized. They simply said "I love you"'s to each other and that was it. WTH? He didn't even ask how he was rescued. For God's sake. Not to mention things turned out so lackluster it's not even funny. Meh.

Ah. That was indeed a very bad joke. Not the novel but the title. Can't say I'm happy with the cover as well but I've seen worse. Now the story...It was okayish. I didn't exactly expect a master piece so I was able to keep myself entertained and enjoying the characters and their dramas. It still lacks something I can't name but it served its purpose. Also, I liked Val.

Review: Goading the Enforcer

I liked this book a lot. It wasn't perfect, not even close, but it was refreshingly upbeat, funny and enjoyable. I only have one complaint. Jared leaving his whole life for Carson. The moving I could get behind because relationships where the couple is apart most of the time simply don't work for long. Least of all a shifter romance where one feels the need to be with the other about 24/7. So, that...I understood. The leaving his job part though...That was a little more hard to understand. I would've liked for them to have come to a compromise. This way it was just Jared doing what Carson wanted and I'm not completely okay with that. So he was an assassin. Not all assassins are 100% bad and not everyone deserves to live. Considering how Carson may need to kill to defend his pack, his white and black vision is pretty hypocritical and wrong. Even Jared admitted to researching his targets before accepting the job or not to make sure they deserved their fate. I gotta say I was with Jared in this one and I don't think he should've capitulated to Carson's morality. I've read other novels with assassins as main characters and I've always loved them. That being said, I still had fun reading this.

I don't know. I expected better. The characters just didn't have enough "Oomph" to carry the story. They were pretty cardboard cut and even slightly boring. I did have fun reading about the neighbourhood watch though. They were ridiculously hilarious and managed to uplift my spirits.
