Review: Becoming

Becoming
Becoming by Mike Shade

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Hot short novel filled with sex to the brim. Literally. There's maybe 3% of the book without sex or blood. Mostly it is just sex and blood. Together. But, hey, still fun to read. Romantic HEA too to sweeten the deal.

Review: Can't Hurry Love

Can't Hurry Love
Can't Hurry Love by M. Jules Aedin

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Really cute and sweet. Slightly melodramatic too. Mostly fun and enjoyable. Full of fluff though and not very serious. Just some entertaining and mindless reading. Good HEA.

Review: Night and Day

Night and Day
Night and Day by Mandy Rosko

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Romeo and Juliet kind of romance that fortunately ended better. Still dramatic, captivating and sweet but with a good HEA though so definitely worth reading. Very well done.

Cute and quirky but also kind of short and rushed. A little more background and character development would've been appreciated. Nice ending tho.

Incredibly sad but very well done. Amazing work even if not exactly to my tastes. Recommended for those who don't care about happy stories or endings.

Review: Thief of His Heart

Thief of His Heart
Thief of His Heart by Mya Lairis

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Don't really know what to make of this. While I liked it well enough, I guess, I also had some troubles with the execution. I could forget the mistypes, the grammar mistakes and other issues with the writing. I really could. They weren't overwhelming or that often so it wasn't really a big deal. But the way the romance was written was much of a turn off for me. I really didn't see why they liked each other at all. Besides coming from totally different sides of life, they only had sex. Okay, so it was only in their dreams but that doesn't make a relationship. Not even close. What did they see in each other? I still can't answer that even after finishing it. So...while I give props for the plot and the world-building, I wasn't impressed. And the ending did nothing for me.

Review: Kissing Orion

Kissing Orion
Kissing Orion by Amber Kell

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Sometimes I read certain books and thank the gods I didn't pay for them. This is one of them. I don't see the appeal and, in fact, feel cheated out of my time. The background is almost non-existent and the plot is absolutely ridiculous. Misspelling and grammar mistakes were pretty much everywhere and the romance was...boring actually. Not to mention how the damn thing ended. Cherry on top of the cake. But, amazingly enough, I liked Aaron. Only reason this gets a two star rating at all.

Review: Ash Swan

Ash Swan
Ash Swan by Amber Kell

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

If you're against cliffhangers...I'm warning you to proceed at your own risk 'cause there's a huge one in this book. In fact, it's annoying as Hell. Not 'cause it's one of those important ones amidst a scene but, mostly, 'cause it makes one wander why bother reading this at all. Not impressed, peeps. Besides the rushed romance, I don't really see much appeal because it's all so contrived and exasperating. I do give props for the plot. Not sure if I'll bother with the next one. Cliffhanger or not.

Review: Catching Mr Right

Catching Mr Right
Catching Mr Right by Amber Kell

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Kind of short but entertaining. Good romance even if the execution wasn't the best. I also advise a good revision 'cause the grammar mistakes were kind of glaring at me while I was trying to enjoy the story. I also think the whole sub-plot with the gangsters should've either been better done or not present at all.

Review: Blood Signs

Blood Signs
Blood Signs by Amber Kell

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Plot-wise it's very good and interesting but the execution leaves something to be desired. The romance is incredibly rushed, the background is almost non-existent as well as the world-building and the characters are still basically complete strangers even after reading this book 'till the end. The HEA wasn't very good either. Kind of downplayed and slightly dull. I was sufficiently entertained tho.
