Not bad but the scene with Ethan, Aidan and Charlie in the same room was ridiculous. Charlie's reaction to all of it tho was even worse. Incredibly childish and disappointing while Leo didn't even care. In fact, the way that leads to the beginning of Leo and Charlie's romantic relationship after all those pages full of suspense...Not worth the waiting. It was all rushed and lacked emotion. I'm not even sure Leo actually liked Charlie. Meh.

Review: Romanus

Another unrealistic novel. Not bad but there's not much beyond sex. No background, no world-building and no character development. I was also pretty confused in the beginning of the story. It was pretty much everyone for themselves and I had quite a hard time understanding anything. And Mace's supposed acceptance of everything? Weird and unbalanced, I tell you. Although that seems to be the norm throughout the whole novel too. Also rushed and with an abrupt end. Read it, if you must, but don't expect much.

Review: The Guardian

This book and this relationship were simply unbelievable. Like really unbelievable. How across the veil people apparently lived in the 1800's without any comfort and yet, Eoin didn't have the slightest trouble adapting to modern ways. How Jude himself didn't seem to have trouble going from a modern to a middle ages society. How everything somehow always ended up making sense and well for everyone involved. But more incredible is how everyone accepts Jude when he travels to Midrin and he never actually concerns himself about these people he left behind when he returns home. I don't buy it, like anything at all in this book. But I was entertained and I laughed so I guess it can't have been that bad.

Review: Bullet

It felt somewhat incomplete. The plot is solid, interesting and intense. The characters and the ending were exactly what I expected and ultimately I liked it a lot but the sensation of unfinished business stayed with me anyway. There was something missing. Good HEA tho.

Review: Scent of a Wolf

Scent of a Wolf by Draven St. James

I liked it. I liked that, for once, a shifter romance novel was balanced instead of deeply dysfunctional and unstable. For once, the main characters concerned themselves more with loving each other instead of fighting for supremacy and control. For once, an alpha male not only bottomed for his mate but admitted he wanted him more than anything and he expected them to be in an equal relationship. For once, I didn't have to witness any form of control between lovers. I am not only surprised but extremely satisfied because this is rare. After dozens of novels where one male is the girl and the other is the epitome of maleness...I feel refreshed and hopeful for future novels. Thank you.

Now for the overall plot. It's very well written. The background is solid, consistent and amazingly full of details and explanations. The world-building is creative and, even tho not exactly new, has enough new aspects to entertain and captivate. The characters are the best part for me tho and not only because of what I mentioned above but also because the support characters are incredible and detailed and really brought life to the story. Really loved the HEA too. Well done.

I'm not really sure what to think of this. In one way, I liked it enough to read it 'till the end but in another way, I was kind of disappointed. I was expecting something more epic, less ordinary. Maybe Kai to be less alien and more approachable. Joel to be more sure and not so lost. Maybe not to have elfs so cold and insensitive. That war was...horrible. All wars are but this was particularly unreasonable and idiotic. So many unnecessary deaths. I don't know. I just never got that happy feeling I have when reading a good story. This one just left me disillusioned and upset. I recognize it's creative, different and solid but...not much else. When it ended, I didn't even care if Kai stayed with Joel or not.

Review: Paul's Dream

Not bad. Not bad at all. A little over-dramatic but still immensely enjoyable. I really liked the background, the plot and the characters, specially Paul. Weird right? 'Cause Kian was the sexy bad boy, the impulsive and passionate one. But Paul, he had a special place in my heart, I tell you. He was cold and confident but also unsure and innocent. Such different sides in him. It intrigued me and entertained me and I loved him. For me he was a better character because he was difficult to understand even when he was being predictable. And I really liked the HEA. It was perfect for the story. Open enough to make us wish for more.

Review: Cursed

Well. It was so predictable I want to throw up. It's all fluffy and roses and they're all so meek and calm when things are going so wrong it's not even funny. It's just lame and tiresome. Don't get me wrong, I liked the premise. I think it had great potential. The problem was the execution. It's so focused on the romance and the supposed "curse" that we don't actually get to know the characters in more than 200 pages. And when we do get some piece of the characters it's something annoying like Tristan's submissiveness or Benjamin's alphaness. Almost made me wish not to have been given anything about them at all. That's how cliché it was.
Tristan is the girl of the story. I liked him the first few pages and then simply couldn't care less. He's insipid, whining and doesn't appear to have any thoughts that weren't planted by Benjamin. And Benjamin? Oh God. He can't even bottom without his wolf going all alpha on them. Again...cliché anyone? Oh and the whimpering. If I don't read that word again is too soon.
Anyway...what really bothered me was the ending. That unsatisfying end that made me want to throw the damn book out the window. After suffering through this ill fitting plot and characterization I'm not even allowed a well written conclusion. Seriously.
