Review: I Spy Something Bloody

I Spy Something Bloody I Spy Something Bloody by Josh Lanyon
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Kinda short but sweet. A little over-dramatic but lately I find everything a little over-dramatic so the problem may be mine. Either way, it was an interesting read and I enjoyed it. Although I have no idea where that 2nd sex scene came from. I must have missed a very important step somewhere and simply couldn't find it when I went back. That or my dog ate it. I don't know what the hell was that.

Review: Lust and Other Drugs

Lust and Other Drugs Lust and Other Drugs by Saranna DeWylde
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

It was merely okay. Too short, fast and I couldn't connect with the couple. The sex was entertaining though.

Review: Fates

Fates Fates by C. Gockel
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I'm actually not sure if I like the new Loki. This one is definitely nicer and more humane sure but I kind of liked his impulsiveness and selfishness. He had a flair and a charisma that drew me in like no one else before so, while I don't dislike Bohdi, I also don't feel the same connection I did with the original Loki. There's still some hints at recklessness there but it's not the same anymore and it's a little disappointing. I kind of hope he manages to get his memories back just so I can see Loki again. I miss him. I did enjoy their adventures in the land of the Norns. Very well done.

Review: Chaos

Chaos Chaos by C. Gockel
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I honestly hope Loki doesn't stay "dead" for long. It's boring without him and I like him a lot. I am a little upset he destroyed half a city tho.

Review: Monsters : I Bring the Fire Part II

Monsters : I Bring the Fire Part II Monsters : I Bring the Fire Part II by C. Gockel
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Maybe I'm supposed to be on the side of AOU or whatever they call themselves but I'm actually rooting for Loki and I honestly hope he kicks their asses. Hard. Really, really hard. That Jameson is a real *sshole. Amazingly enough, despite not being present in this book, Thor is kind of leaving me with a better impression of himself through Loki's memories. Perhaps he's not so bad. Anyway...these books are good but way too short.

Review: Base Instincts

Base Instincts Base Instincts by Larissa Ione
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I've read only a couple of these books and they're a hit or miss with me. I adored some but also DNF'ed one of them out of boredom. So I was a little hesitant to read this novella. Fortunately I read it anyway and wasn't disappointed. It was very sweet and hot and I was more than a little curious to learn how this story of a gay Seminus was going to develop. Raze and Slake were an awesome couple and had great chemistry. It was a nice addition to the main series and couples. Short but great read.

Review: Wolves

Wolves Wolves by C. Gockel
My rating: 0 of 5 stars

This is surprisingly good. I wasn't expecting much 'cause lately all proclaimed UF novels seem to end up being nothing more than common paranormal romances but, alas, I was wrong. Also seems like most people don't know the difference between one and the other, so it was good to have my exceptions exceeded. I really liked Amy even if she comes across as exceedingly naive most of the time and Loki is definitely a nice change. I hope he keeps being the slightly crazy good guy he's been so far. Thor, on the other hand, has not impressed me. Kind of hard to reconcile this image of him with the all the idealism around him and his father but I'm enjoying it. I always had a thing for Loki. And yes, that was way before Tom Hiddleston entered the picture in Avengers. Anyway, I'm hoping to read the next one soon.

Review: Insanity (Mad in Wonderland)

Insanity (Mad in Wonderland) Insanity (Mad in Wonderland) by Cameron Jace
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was crazy good but was most of all just plain crazy. I can't really compare any of this to the original tale of Alice because I never read it. I know about it, of course, pretty much impossible not to in this day and age, but Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll somehow never made it into my pile of books to read. So I admit only to recognize the most basic of clues and hints throughout the whole novel. It wasn't easy. In fact, it was mostly just confusing and embarrassing for me but also oh so good and entertaining. Mind-boggling. Weird. Insane. I questioned everything and everyone. I absolutely loved it.

Review: Alex

Alex Alex by Irish Winters
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I expected a different book. This is an emotional story focused on abuse, violence and new starts. I'm usually all for this but this story depressed me a lot. Alex is an ex-marine haunted by the death of his family in a car crash four years ago. Kelsey is the dying woman Alex finds near his cabin in the woods. So, while I was expecting a whole of a lot of action, like the main couple running from her ex-husband in the middle of the woods or something, I was served a lot of drama and sadness instead. This is a book about the recovery of parents who lost their children. Of a woman abused by her husband. Of two people learning to love again. To trust. It's a story to inspire but it's also a story about the cruelty people are capable of. The blurb is kind of misleading I think. I wasn't expecting such a heavy book. Anyway, I still felt compelled to finish it and I'm not regretting that decision either or anything. I wasn't disappointed, per se, more like confused. I kept expecting it to turn things a little lighter and it never did. That's all.
