Review: Inside Out

Inside Out by Andrew Grey

That epilogue sure was funny. Couldn't say I expected it but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Same with the rest of the book. It was full of action, romance and just plain fun. Only thing I'll complain about is the lack of more military attitude and men. Who wouldn't have loved more of that? Apart from that little tidbit, this novel was very well written with a captivating story and characters. Very entertaining.

Review: Windows in Time

While I enjoyed both sides of the story, both the modern and the 50's romances, I didn't enjoy reading them together. It was incredibly confusing at times, unnecessary and slow going. If they had been separate I believe I would've liked it better. In this way, I couldn't seem to focus on either thoroughly and I ended up curious about the ending but not willing to suffer anymore in order to actually finish. It was a real pity because I did like both romances.

I went back. Damn. I was too curious to stop reading it entirely. I'll still complain about both stories being so entangled with each other but ultimately? It didn't matter. I wanted to know the end.
Justice was done for the 50's couple. I expected their death and yet I still cried a little. Really happy for their closure with the murderer being found and arrested.
The modern couple. A little more difficult for me to relate to actually because they are so focused in Buck and Oliver that they kind of forget to get to know each other sometimes. I still liked them but wasn't as curious about.

Basically? Despite my issues with this book, it was still very good. Amazingly solid and well thought out. Nice HEA.

Surprisingly sappy but enjoyable nonetheless. Short story tho. Not much background presented either 'cause the characters already knew each other for years. Some violence but nothing much. Nice HEA.

I honestly don't know what to say or do about this book. Applaud the creativity and plot or hide this somewhere where I never have to see it again. It is soooo creepy and weird. And, I'm sorry but, two wrongs never make one right. His troubled past doesn't excuse Paul's actions and Leigh's circumstances don't change the fact he fell in love with his kidnapper. I am amazed by how the author worked this tho. Brilliantly done even if I don't particularly like it.

Review: Storms and Stars

Storms and Stars by Neena Jaydon

Ridiculously good. Well written. Solid characters, background and world-building. Creative plot. Satisfying HEA. All I hoped for. Very well done. The sex scenes are explicit but not crude. The romance appears slowly and it's very sweet. Religion issues are seen throughout the whole book, mainly due to the fact that Luke is a monk and very fervent about his religion and the way he expects things to be. He comes as unwavering and firm from the beginning but we can actually follow his evolution towards a more accepting person. Same with Villam regarding the Empire and his arrogance of always being right. Very interesting seeing both characters learn with each other from such different sides of view.

Review: Bastet

While I loved the creativity involved in making this book, the mythology, the mysteries and every other piece of history, I wasn't very sold on this plot. I seriously liked the world-building and background (which is what I usually complain about regarding this author) but wasn't fond on most of the characters. Baz and Kellan were certainly worthy of love but the rest of them seemed a little too aloof and disconnected for my liking considering they were all supposed to be family to Baz. I also found Sekhmet a little creepy. Don't know if I'll want to read anymore about any of them.

Well while I did enjoy reading this story, I also felt a little disappointed by the ending. It's a HEA so it's not terrible but I expected more meaning behind everything. After a whole book saying Nash was half-shifter, if the author had no intention of pursuing the venue about his father, then she should've left the matter alone instead of introducing the fae too. It opened that field and never gave a conclusion making the whole book feel even more incomplete. Same thing about his supposed work with some weird agency. Basically, it was entertaining but not good enough. The lack of background and world-building pretty much annul the creative aspect and leaves us feeling cheated.
